Thanks to our wonderful FOTAS - Friends of the Animals volunteers, many of our dogs get to spend time out in our play yards having fun and being dogs. Storm and Comet had a lot of fun yesterday, and both are available for adoption!
I'm Leyla, a 1 year old old Pit Bull. I'm fairly insecure and have not been exposed to many things in my life. Thanks to the shelter I've had experience as an office dog. I walk nicely on a leash and I'm learning how to play! My ideal home would be a low traffic one that will slowly expose me to new things and experiences. I need lots of love and reassurance that everything is going to be ok. I don't know any cues but I'm eager to learn once I get comfortable in my new home. I am house trained. I suffer from mild separation anxiety and may bark when my human leaves, but I've also been working on that during my time as an office dog. I love tennis balls and I'm such a good girl that I will bring it back to you and drop it so you can throw it again. Please come meet me and see if we are good match!

PK is my nickname, but my full name is “Itty Bitty Pretty Kitty”, or sometimes “Itty Bitty Feisty Kitty”, or “Itty Bitty Snuggly Kitty”. I’m not so Itty Bitty anymore, so PK for short is what I go by (even though I am still pretty small for my age). I have been a single kitten in a foster home with three adult cats and a cat-friendly dog. I sometimes irritated the adult cats with my playfulness, so it would be good if I had a family who can play with me a lot in the next few months, or with a playful kitten. I love to snuggle, but only when I am not hungry. I sometimes give love bites to let my people know I need some wet food. But my foster Mom says I am the perfect snuggler when I am settled. I’ve been exposed to lots of things - classrooms full of kids, car travel to the coast, the outdoors on leash or in a screen cage. I’m very adaptable. Please come meet me!

Introducing Monkey!
Introducing Monkey!
Hi, My name is MONKEY, and I'm a cute shorthaired brown tabby. I came to the Shelter because my owner couldn't care for me anymore. I'm a playful, active kitty that will need consistent exercise and a friend to play with. I can be very engaging & sweet. Like most cats, though, I will let you know when I've had enough--so watch my body language for cues. I would love a patient owner who will allow me time to adjust to my new home!

I'm Connor, a 3 year old gray tabby. I was found abandoned with my sister Millicent. I'm very outgoing and chatty. I am a love bug and I would love to tell you about all of my previous adventures in life. I would be forever grateful if you free fed me, due to my prior circumstances I get a little nervous when there is no food around.
Come meet Connor today from 11-4pm, no appointment needed!

Meet Rogue! Rogue is a 6 year old Tree Walker Hound who weighs about 50 pounds. Rogue is house trained and knows sit. She is very affectionate and loves being with her people. Her previous owner indicated that she coexisted fairly well with cats (would sniff and lightly chase) but she did not do well with livestock (would chase horses). Rogue did very well with kids between 4 and 18 years old. Rogue may have food allergies, so she may need a special diet. Rogue would make a good addition to any family and would love to meet you!
The adoption fee is $160, plus $25 for an annual dog license, if you live in Jackson County. For more information or to schedule a time to meet the dog, please call the Jackson County Animal Shelter at 541-774-6654 and press "5" for additional adoption information.
A little bit shy, a little bit silly and a whole lot of cute- SAM is all that and then some! He will need a patient owner who will allow him time to adjust and who will not force him into new and potentially overwhelming situations. While he may not be a dog park kind of guy he would love to snuggle and binge watch movies with you. He is eager to have you show him how to be a good canine citizen by teaching him how to be the best dog ever.
