While delivering blankets to the local shelter, I walked past what appeared to be an empty kennel, however upon closer inspection I noticed a tiny, elderly, dog huddled in the corner, shivering, and terribly frightened. . When her stray period was up and her owners did not come, I adopted her. Through some intense detective work, I discovered this little girl’s owner had passed away, and my seni

or friend had celebrated EIGHTEEN birthdays. She came complete with rotten teeth, a grade 5 heart murmur, and failing kidneys. Despite her poor prognosis, I decided to find a vet who would take a chance and remove those painfully abscessed teeth, amazingly enough she survived the surgery, and was the proud owner of 3 whole teeth. This little angel became known as Ruby and was a regular fixture at adoption events, often being carried around in her little wicker basket. All good things must come to an end, and 10 months after coming into our lives, little Ruby’s heart gave out a few days before her 19th birthday. Although with me for just a short period, it was worth the expense, heartache…as I was able to provide a loving home for my little friend in her golden moments, instead of ending her life in a shelter on a cold cement floor. I have had the pleasure over the years of fostering hundreds of animals including many seniors and those with special needs. I have decided to focus primarily on these wonderful animals…so in honor of little Ruby, Ruby Ranch Pet Rescue and Sanctuary was born.

UPDATE! misty has been reunited with her owner, the dog sitter let her out accidentally. She is updating the microchip to have her information on it. Thank you all!

Is this your little girl? She was picked up near 15th Ave. and Bethany Home Road. We are waiting on microchip number but we were sent these pictures. Adopted from us, Chip was not registered though.

Midwestern friends! Indiana specifically.

Meet Finn!!!!!!

This little man was born outside under a shed in a small town, just outside of Indianapolis. As you can see, he has adjusted quite nicely to indoor life!

He is now about five months old and ready to find his forever home. He has been socialized with dogs and cats, he is extremely affectionate. He loves playing with his toys. His favorite game is running upstairs with his toy, tossing it down the stairs, lather, rinse, repeat. 🙂

He will be the greatest cat! If you are interested in giving him a forever indoor only home, please message us!

Our sweet senior Lilly is now on the search for her forever home!

Lilly came to us via the shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. She is the SWEETEST lady--well mannered, housebroken, walks nicely on a leash, VERY quiet (her foster Mom has heard her bark only a few times in the 2 months she's had her)

Lilly's breed is a bit of a mystery---she is very fluffy, has an undercoat similar to a pomeranian, and the face of a terrier. She's long legged and around 15lbs--long and lean! We estimate her age to be between 10-12.

Lilly's teeth were atrocious-completely rotten and falling out of her mouth-so when she had her dental last month she became part of the toothless club. Every single one had to be removed. She feels SO much better, and now happily gobbles up her meals with gusto. Lilly is hearing impaired--close to totally deaf, she could probably hear fireworks--but that's about it. :)

Lilly is as friendly as they come--she loves all humans and animals she meets. She does growl when her foster siblings try to stick their noses in her food bowl, but that's it. She loves to explore the yard, and on occasion she gets bursts of energy and likes to show how fast she can run around the trees 🌳 She would make a delightful addition to a variety of homes.

Lilly even wrote her own Valentines Day Poem:
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
My new home
Is it with you???....

Let's make her Valenties Day wish come true!!!!

Meet PJ!!!!
This tiny 13 year old boy found himself homeless when his owner passed away. It is very clear that he was loved and cherished...as he has excellent house manners, gets along with everyone he meets, and is just a doll!

In typical chihuahua fashion he likes to watch TV on the sofa with you, and when it's lights out you'll find him in the human bed curled up under the covers.

He's 6lbs of pure sweetness. He is also toothless--so no trips to the dentist needed! His foster Mom will send him home with some stylish sweaters to keep him warm when the temperatures drop.

Let's help PJ get his wish.....a Home for the Holidays!!!

(p.s. those are freckles on his ear...not ticks ;) )

What would Ms. Bitsy like for this Thanksgiving? A new family!

Unfortunately her two humans passed away, so that leaves this 10ish year old poodle searching for a new forever home.

She is tiny..about 7 lbs, (although a bit chubby!) and would like to be Queen of her Castle. Definitely no cats (unless they are separated, or the cats avoid her), and ideally the only dog.

She is a snuggler, still very feisty--she has bursts of energy!, and is housetrained if she is let out often.

Please help make Bitsy's Thanksgiving wish for a new family come true!

PUPDATE!

17 year old Skeeter is celebrating 3 years with her new family. After being abandoned by her owners at 14 years old, we rescued her from the Yuma Humane Society, she had glaucoma which was so advanced and not repairable--even at her age we had no choice but to remove both eyes. It was the right decision--because look at her now--3 whole years later!

We thank all of you who open up your hearts and home to those senior animals--they truly deserve it.

Here's to three more years Ms. Skeeter!!!!!

Alas...it is time to find our sweet Mia her forever home. She's an extra special little gal, we know the perfect home is out there waiting for her. She is a 5 year old blind shih tzu, about 16lbs.

We have no idea what her background is, but based on her medical condition and behavior when she arrived we can only assume it was far from pleasant. Her eyes were matted shut, the hair and gunk was removed revealing eyes damaged beyond repair. She spent a week at the vet, trying everything we could to save the eyes. One was beyond salvageable and needed to be removed, the other she was able to keep, but the damage was done--she has no vision left in that eye. Lack of vision left an already timid little girl extraordinarily fearful of new voices and noises. She will occasionally have what we can only assume are panic attacks if she feels threatened. Example: A small bookshelf fell over, causing the foster puppies in the home to all start screaming :)--because Mia couldn't see what had happened--and heard the puppies sound like the roof was caving in, she ran into the bathroom barking, shaking, and pooped herself. :( She loves to be held, so when she heard her foster Mom's voice, and she picked her up, she calmed down immediately.

Mia LOOOOOOVES other dogs!!!!! One or more social friendly, non-high strung dog in the home is a must. She follows their cues. She would do well with a gentle canine pack leader. She really wants to play with the dogs in her foster home, but they are not interested. She also LOVES toys!!!!

If her foster family has had experience with fearful dogs, or puppy mill dogs--Mia will be a piece of cake. She ADORES her foster Mom and a few people who are regular visitors. This will not be instant gratification--she will take a week to get comfortable, but once she trusts a human, she is affectionate, playful, eagerly welcomes tummy rubs, and loves them with all she has.

If you believe Mia would be a nice addition to your canine pack-please contact us. She is currently being fostered in Phoenix. We will not ship her, so please don't ask. We would entertain an out of state adoption, but driving to Arizona would be necessary, she would not do well on a plane. (oh...Mia LOVES car rides too!!!)
