Dr. Johnston’s has been practicing veterinary medicine for 30 years. She graduated from University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. She then spent the next ten years working at several veterinary clinics. Finally, on May 15, 2000, she fulfilled her dream and bought her own practice, Companion Animal Care Center. Dr. Johnston specializes in the treatment of cats and dogs. We foc
us on preventive medicine and cater our vaccine protocol to each individual patient based on lifestyle and risk factors. We offer longer appointment times to give each pet the personal attention they deserve. We perform basic surgeries and also have a therapeutic laser for healing. We keep current with improved ways to treat our patients and attempt to make it as low stress as we can. Call or visit if you are interested in learning more about us!

On World Su***de Prevention Day we want to remind everyone to be kind to everyone and to think twice before speaking. Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and Veterinary Staff are very susceptible to mental health issues due to the nature of our work. While the outcome of your pet's treatment may not be what was expected, taking out your anger on the veterinarian or staff is not productive. It only makes us feel worse than we already did regarding the loss of a patient. Please remember that kind words go far and we appreciate them.
Consumer Alert!!
There have been some reports of some knockoff "Litter Robot" self scooping litter boxes that have faulty sensors and have injured or killed some cats. These may be sold on Amazon or other outlets. Please do your research regarding these litter boxes prior to purchasing.
Let's give a big shout out to those folks that are able to step in and check in on our dogs and give them some exercise when we are unable to do so.
For National Hug Your Hound Day, go ahead and give your hound a hug, but only with their permission.

Responsible Dog Ownership Month is a reminder to care for your dog and to provide food, water, shelter and routine medical care. Dogs provide us with unconditional love and joy, and they can make our lives more fulfilled.

Blind dogs require some special care, but are great additions to any family. They may have some special needs regarding physical barriers, like fences, and rearranging the furniture is not advisable, but these pups are happy and loving, and can be a fun addition to your family.
We realize that taking your cat to the clinic can be very stressful for not only your cat, but for you as well. If your cat seems to be stressed for the visit please contact the office for some suggestions on transporting your cat to the clinic. Annual examinations, vaccinations, and routine blood panels can help to keep your kitty in tip top shape and hopefully identify diseases at an early stage so that we can try to control the progression.
Tater Tot’s biscuit factory has paid off! He was able to afford a 2 story condo to share with Gremlin (rent has not been discussed). More updates to follow the decoration process ✨
Homeless Animal Day was created to enhance awareness of the issue of pet overpopulation. Spaying and neutering your pets can help to greatly reduce this issue.
It is a little late in the day but today is the day to appreciate the black cats of the world. There is a tendency to overlook these cats in the shelters due to myths, but these kitties can be playful, spunky, and a great addition to any family.
