K-9 Zeke of the Moorehead, MN Police Department passed away yesterday after an unexpected medical emergency. We are devastated by this loss, we were fortunate enough to produce Zeke in house and provide him and his basic academy to his handler. His handler Officer Musich completed this great team, being a hard working, eager to learn and open to critique handler leading them to a successful career which included being warded the 2022 NPCA Patrol Case of the year. He had this to say about his partner.
"Zeke and I were paired together in February of 2021, where we attended handler school together in Phoenix, AZ. After our initial 10 weeks of training, we returned home to start working the streets. Zeke was a dual purpose K9, trained in narcotics detection and patrol functions such as tracking, building/area searches, article recovery, and criminal apprehension. Zeke had many highs and lows, most of the lows coming from me being a new and inexperienced handler and the highs being him finally getting to break free and show just how talented and special he was. Zeke was a hard and tough dog that only showed his soft side to a few, but as time went on he began to open up to more people, especially his human partners. I’m extremely proud of the work we accomplished together as a K9 team and am grateful for the opportunity I had to be partners with Zeke."
