Walter – Labrador/shepherd mix – 2 ½ yrs – male (65lbs)
Meet our sweetheart, Walter! This adorable guy was actually born into our rescue (formerly known as Trent) and adopted out when he was just ten weeks old. He lived in a loving home from that point on until recently when his owner fell on hard times and lost his home. He ended up living out of his car and, with no one to care for Walter and no family member to take him in, he made the decision to surrender him back to us. A car is no place for any dog to live, especially with the weather getting hotter. Poor Walter is a bit nervous and stressed, but we’re helping him settle in to this temporary situation. He’s doing better and better every day and we all just love him and his sweet soul.
Thankfully we know a lot about Walter because we were able to speak with his owner. Walter is house trained and crate trained. He does well in the car and enjoys the ride. We also know that he lived with both kids and two other dogs and did great. He has been a bit unsure of new people right at first, but warms up very quickly and enjoys all the attention he can get. He still has some puppy energy and needs regular exercise – he’s a good walker and will enjoy hiking and camping with his new person or family. Walter is happy, silly, and loving. He’s a very gentle boy. We would love to get him out of the shelter and back in a home where he can once again thrive. If our handsome guy sounds like a good match for your life, please complete an application and make plans to take Walter home!
