Decker – Boxer mix ~ 2 yrs – male (54lbs)

Introducing our handsome boy Decker! This cutie was found sitting by the side of a freeway. He seemed afraid to move which was probably why he didn’t get hit by a car. Animal Control was able to pick him up easily and take him to their shelter which is where we spotted him. We rescued him and brought him to our shelter where he’ll be safe from any euthanasia lists.

Decker is proving to be a fun, playful guy. He acts like a lot of boxers with lots of bouncy, bubbly energy. He doesn’t have accidents in his kennel area so we believe he may be housebroken. He’s very sweet and enjoys people, but can be a little unsure when he first meets someone new. He loves to play with other dogs and has several buddies at our shelter. He pulls some on the leash, but corrects pretty well and loves the adventure of the walk. He is energetic, but not hyper. Decker is smart and very trainable; he wants to please. He’s athletic and enjoys activities that challenge him. Decker is looking for a person or family with a good-sized yard that will give him the time, love, and attention to allow him to restore his faith in humans – a forever home filled with love and activity. Jackson – Staffordshire Terrier mix ~ 2 ½ yrs – male (60lbs)

This adorable guy was dumped right in front of a county shelter – his owners pulled up, opened the car door, and pushed him out! A volunteer saw him roll on the ground and then get up to try to chase the car down. Jackson was so traumatized that he would not allow anyone near him so he had to be caught in a trap. We heard his story and took one look into his soft, but sad brown eyes and decided to make him part of the SHR family.

Jackson has since been settling in well at our shelter. He’s still very much a puppy and has that happy puppy energy. He loves to go for walks and corrects easily anytime he starts to pull. He plays well with other dogs and has a number of play buddies. He’s a rough and rowdy player so he’s best with a dog that can match his play-style. Jackson looooves tennis balls and is adorably hilarious playing with them. He’s not the most coordinated pup. 😂 Jackson is very smart, wants to please, and loves attention. Gibbs – Cattle dog mix ~ 1 year – male (65lbs)

Sweet Gibbs was picked up by Animal Control after someone in a neighborhood saw a man drive up to a park, get out, tie his dog to the fence, and drive off. 💔 It’s heartbreaking to hear how horrible people can be to these sweet dogs. Gibbs was taken to a county shelter which is where we spotted him. We scooped him up and brought him to our shelter where he can safely wait for his forever home.

Gibbs is basically a big puppy! He’s happy, playful, and enthusiastic about life! He is very smart and treat motivated and will do almost anything for a snack. He gets along well with other dogs, but loves people the most. He’s so affectionate and loving. Gibbs is easy to walk and can go a good distance, making him a great hiking partner. We think he also might enjoy learning agility or outdoor activities. This sweet boy is looking for a person or family who is active, will include him in their activities, and give him the exercise he needs. Charlie – Staffordshire Terrier mix – 1 ½ yrs – Female (34lbs)

Meet our incredibly sweet little mama, Charlie! Charlie was found when a woman called Animal Control because a dog had wandered into her yard and laid by one of her Christmas decorations and wouldn’t move. By the time Animal Control got there, they realized why she hadn’t moved, she was having puppies! The poor girl is still a puppy herself! Charlie was taken to a county shelter where she continued giving birth…a total of eight puppies. We were asked to help and were more than happy to scoop this pretty new mama up! She went straight to our “mama foster” where she and her puppies were kept safe and warm. Charlie was a very good mom, but would try to sneak away from her babies to play with her foster mom’s dogs. She would wag and play-bow to entice them to pay attention to her. ☺️ Now Charlie’s done being a mom and is at the shelter where she’s stealing everyone’s heart!

Charlie is a total love-bug! She is good in her kennel and doesn’t have any accidents. We believe she may be housebroken. Charlie loves to play with other dogs and has quite a few play buddies at our shelter. She’s pretty easy on a leash and thinks anyone passing by should stop to pet her – of course they should! She’s not only adorable, she’s sweet, happy, and so much fun to be around! The only “bad” habit that we’ve found her to have? She’s a stuffed animal killer! 😆 Charlie is great with people and will make an amazing companion! She has so much love to give and is just waiting for that special person or family to find her and give her the love she deserves. Dorsey – Siberian Husky mix – 2yrs – male (45lbs)

Introducing our happy guy, Dorsey! This guy was found as a stray, but just a week earlier his owner had tried to surrender him to county saying he had too much energy. At that time, the shelter had no room and he was given a date to bring him back. Hmmm……seems like the owner had a different timeline. Luckily this sweet boy didn’t get hit by a car or worse. We saw his goofy face and knew we had to rescue him from that crowded county shelter. Since he arrived, he’s been adjusting to life at our rescue and is doing great.

Dorsey is outgoing, very playful, and full of happy energy! He cracks us up with his enthusiastic expressions and silly personality. He plays well with other dogs, but plays hard and wants his playmates to do the same. Dorsey is great with people and thinks everyone he meets is his new best friend. We do know that he is not good with cats. He’ll make a great sidekick to an active person or family that will include him in their adventures. Dorsey loves the water and we believe would enjoy outings at the lake. He would also be a great jogging or hiking companion - he loves to be out and about doing new things and meeting new people. He’s very smart, although somewhat stubborn, so training should be fun. And he already knows a few tricks! Derrick – American Bulldog/Pit bull mix – 2yrs – male (65lbs)

Meet our handsome big-headed boy, Derrick! This guy was surrendered to a county shelter because his owner had dementia and could no longer care for him. Sadly, there was no family member willing to take him in, something we can’t understand because he is such an awesome dog. When we spotted him in that kennel, sitting up against the wall looking like he had given up, we just had to change his fate! We rescued him and brought him to our shelter where he’ll be safe and well cared for.

Since he arrived, Derrick has been settling in and he’s doing great! He’s quite the “ladies-man” and has a few female playmates. He hasn’t been overly playful yet, but he does enjoy their company. He gets the zoomies from time to time, but it’s pretty short-lived, running takes a lot of effort. 😉 He doesn’t currently have any male play buddies, but we know that he did in the past. He lived in a home and he doesn’t have accidents in his kennel so we’re confident that he’s fully housebroken. Derrick loves to go for walks and is a pretty good on a leash, although he’s still working on walking in a straight line. 😂 His favorite thing of all is to be close to people! He loves to be loved and will push his big head into your stomach and insist that you hug him. With that adorable face, who wouldn’t want to hug him?! Derrick is happy, friendly, and super sweet. Barkley – Staffordshire Terrier mix – 4 ½ yrs – male (76lbs)

We think all of our dogs are special, but this handsome guy definitely stands out. Barkley was originally surrendered to a county shelter as a young pup because his owners didn’t have time for him. He was pulled by a “rescue” which turned out to be an actual nightmare. He was crated for 20 hours a day for almost two whole years! He only got out to go to the bathroom – he was not allowed to play with other dogs and got very little human attention. Once that rescue closed, some of the dogs were taken to a county shelter, but most were sadly set to be euthanized. Barkley ended up at the same county shelter where he had been abandoned as a pup, but this time, he got lucky! Barkley got special attention there and was allowed to be an “office” dog, spending his days in the office of the Deputy Director and becoming a volunteer and staff favorite. When we heard his story, we brought him into our rescue and made it our mission to make sure that, he would only be pampered and see the good side of humans from here on out.

Barkley has been adjusting to life at our shelter and is proving to be very good in his kennel. He loves his bed and doesn’t have any accidents – living in the office seems to have housebroken him. He’s great on a leash, is an easy walker, and he LOVES the adventure of the outing. Barkley can also entertain himself; he loves his rope toy or even just relaxing in the sunshine. Despite his past, he loves people. He also has several canine buddies. He tends to “chat” at new dogs when he meets them, but once he’s had his say, he plays well. Barkley has so much love to give and deserves a loving home at last. Could that be with you? We’re so so happy to share that our longtime resident, Jetta, has been adopted at last! 🎉 A pregnant and sickly Jetta came to us back in May ‘24. She gave birth and was a wonderful mother to her ten babies, but needed immediate medical care once her puppies were weaned. She ultimately had to have her eye removed and became our beloved one-eyed wonder. Jetta was adored by all at our shelter and we’re absolutely thrilled that she has found a forever home at last. Congratulations to Jetta and our chunky puppy, Drake, on their adoptions. We’re wishing them a long, happy life with their new families! ❤️
