We are so excited to say that with 2 months to go, we already sold over a third of our tickets! With over 15 regular bingo games, a few special 50/50 ones, door prizes and raffle baskets our Designer Bag Bingo is going to be the event of the fall.

Meet Scooby, a lovable senior pup looking for a cozy place to stay while his owner is deployed from August 31, 2024, to October 11, 2025. Scooby is a gentle, affectionate 10-year-old Pitt/Mastiff mix who thrives on companionship. He is great with people and children over 8 years old and is accustomed to living with cats. Scooby is used to apartment life and is naturally quiet, only barking when necessary. He enjoys short walks, cuddles, and spending time close to his human friends.

Scooby is crate-trained but doesn’t need to be crated; he’s content to sleep in his crate with the door open. He loves soft toys but can be reactive to other dogs, so he needs a foster who can avoid them during walks. If you have room in your heart and home, consider fostering Scooby today!

Roadie needs our help ASAP!!! 🆘😔

Roadie ACCT-A-171470 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Roadie must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, or EXPERIENCED FOSTER by WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28th at 10 A.M. Should Roadie's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal.

Roadie was brought to ACCT by a kind stranger after they saw her being tossed out of a car. Despite this, Roadie has been gentle and sweet in our care, quickly becoming a staff favorite. Unfortunately, Roadie is really being weakened by her URI, and needs more individualized, supplemental care than the shelter can provide.

Between her intake and now, Roadie has lost over 2lbs, and has continued to decline in the shelter environment. We would like to see Roadie leave with a rescue that can provide more specialized care, or an experienced foster that can monitor her consistently for improvement or decline.

Medical notes:

8/23 Patient is currently on Fortiflora since 8/21 for reported diarrhea. On presentation, the patient was quieter and had visible purulent nasal discharge. Dehydration is likely secondary to URI and history of diarrhea.

Behavior notes:

8/25 Poor Roadie isn't feeling her best. I was trying to pet her in her kennel, and she decided that wasn't enough, and proceeded to throw herself into my arms. She snuggled right in and didn't want to be put down, so I held her for a while, and set up her kennel with a nice cozy bed. Such a sweet girl.

Roadie has stopped eating, despite being given fluids, anti-nausea medication, probiotics, and two different antibiotics. In her kennel, she's vocal, affectionate and very tolerant of all handling. After what she's been through, Roadie deserves to get out of the shelter and recover so the previous chapter of her life becomes just a vague memory.

Florence was adopted from us, only to be returned a few days later. Her new family felt that their resident dog wasn't thrilled about having a new sister, so Florence is back on the market! Shes about 4
Months old and adores people and other dogs!

PSA:

We have had a few cases of mycotoxin poisoning recently. Its not a poisoning that folks are generally familiar with, so we thought we'd share the information to raise awareness.-

Ingestion of mouldy food from the bin or a compost pile puts dogs, cats, horses, livestock, and even wildlife at risk for toxicity due to tremorgenic mycotoxins. These toxins may be found in MOULDY bread, pasta, cheese, nuts, or other decaying matter like compost. Clinical signs include vomiting, agitation, incoordination, tremors, seizures, and elevated body temperature. A specific mycotoxin called aflatoxin can even cause liver failure. Be sure to keep mouldy food and compost out of your pets reach!

Saturday is International Homeless Animals Day - make a difference in a homeless cat's life. There are 3 homeless teenage kittens at Maddies Castle this weekend!! Summer & River are back & they brought Squiggle with them. They will be there until 3:00 pm Sunday.
