This comes at a major cost for us that we usually won't recoup so we are essentially paying to rehome your pet. Please understand our personal and economical decisions to not be a rehoming agency.***
MISSION STATEMENT: To give as many cats as possible a second chance at a good life, especially those who are most vulnerable or abused, injured, have a disability or terminal illness, or are in need
of medical care. We are a no-kill care program and work hard to rehab and rehome as many cats as possible. We are all volunteers so we rely completely on donations. We want to help them find the right homes quickly so we can help more kitties!! We are very fortunate that many times we see cats go from scared garbage kitties to beautiful loving cats and we want them to find great homes quickly...so we don't get too attached!!! SANCTUARY PROGRAMS - MISFITS CARE AND FERAL CARE
MISFITS CARE PROGRAM: We have a Misfits Care Program that we only expect to continue to grow. Sometimes cats come into our care that cannot be rehomed. These cats still need medical care, food, beds, toys, and all of the things “healthier” or “more presentable” cats deserve in order to have the best quality of life for the remainder of their lives. This is the most costly of the programs as many of these babies need constant medical care, medications, emergency vet visits, etc. We do not make this decision lightly. We WANT to rehome every single cat that comes in. Both medical and feral cases are kept at the rescue and not sent to fosters for both human and cat protection. Due to this, the rescue currently has a big need for facilities on property or to purchase a property nearby for sanctuary purposes so we can continue to accept these patients, and ferals in particular. FERAL CARE PROGRAM: We sometimes take in feral cats that remain feral after their care. Sometimes they need lifetime care so we don't have the heart to send them back to the streets, fighting for survival while battling a chronic medical condition. Most true ferals will remain feral, but sometimes we find that something has changed in them. Some cats become somewhat friendly/trusting from the time in our care. I call them friendly ferals as a reminder that sometimes cat miracles do happen, but once they become friendly they actually aren't ferals by definition anymore. Friendly ferals are former ferals, or "wild strays." They usually remain unpredictable and humans can be too trusting and end up bitten or worse. I will ALWAYS find this out the hard way, but I won't have that on my conscience for making the decision to "turn over inventory just because a cat will show up at food time and let people pet it." If I'm afraid to pick them up and walk around with them then I won't adopt them out.
*We are not a feral intake program. We do not disturb existing colonies unless there is a need, such as medical intervention to preserve or improve a way of life for a cat. We do accept pregnant ferals if we have openings. Mom needs fixed and babies need socialized and fixed to end their generational curse. These cats are always in need of SPONSORS to ensure we are able to meet their daily needs. Reach out to find out how you can help with both of our Lifetime Care Programs. GENERAL CAT RESCUE
We are always in need of fosters, so please reach out! In some scenarios, we may prefer a foster-to-adopt over a foster home for reasons such as needing stability and to learn trust. This is decided on a case-by-case basis. We do wait until at least 4-6 months of age to spay or neuter our kittens, per vet recommendations.
