This handsome fellow is Niko, who was in to see us for an exam and vaccines last week and had a bit of a vaccine reaction. While vaccines are crucial for protecting our pups against various diseases, it's important to be aware that, in rare cases, dogs may experience some reactions. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1️⃣Common Reactions: Dogs may experience mild reactions to vaccines, such as soreness, lethargy, or a slight fever. These symptoms usually disappear within a day or two.

2️⃣Allergic Reactions: Although rare, dogs may have an allergic response to vaccines. Signs of an allergic reaction can include facial swelling, difficulty breathing, hives, vomiting, or diarrhea. Please don't hesitate to seek veterinary assistance immediately if you notice these symptoms.

3️⃣Vaccine Precautions: If your dog has had a previous reaction to a vaccine, inform your vet before their next vaccination appointment. They may suggest alternative vaccination protocols or perform allergy testing to ensure your dog's safety.

4️⃣Post-Vaccine Care: Provide a calm and comfortable environment after your dog receives a vaccine. Avoid strenuous exercise for a day or two, and closely monitor them for unusual behavior or reactions.

‼️Remember, vaccines protect our furry friends from harmful diseases. Stay informed and work closely with your veterinarian to ensure your dog's health and safety.

It's been a bit since we introduced you to a staff member! This week we want to share Anna with you! Anna is a Veterinary Assistant, currently working towards a technician degree to further her career in animal healthcare. Growing up in Lancaster, Ohio, she discovered her love for animals when she started working at a kennel. Anna is particularly drawn to the medical side of veterinary care and enjoys educating clients on the importance of preventive care for their pets. She believes that proactive measures can significantly improve the overall health and well-being of animals. At home, Anna has a lovable canine named Copper, a perfect example of a coonhound. Copper brings immense joy to her life and provides endless entertainment. Anna loves spending time outdoors. From fishing to hiking, she embraces any opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy the serenity it offers.
