1 WEEK PUP-DATE🎉🎉
These puppies are definitely troopers!!

All 3 are doing fantastic
The vet cleared them to go into foster homes and they are thriving💕💕💕

Next appointment is 5/8 where they will be retested and hopefully be able to get their first shots and be dewormed!!

Parvo puppies update Day 3:
The girls are doing really well!
🙏🏻They have energy (video in comments!)
🙏🏻They’re eating and drinking!
🙏🏻Poop is looking more normal 🙌🏻🙌🏻
🙏🏻No seizures today🎉🎉

This pup was having mild seizures yesterday… long night after a long day😵‍💫

Rescue can be rough. Lots of sacrifices. Rescue is a choice.
A way of life.
A commitment.

DSR specializes in horses, however…

Last night, the eve of our 14th year as a nonprofit, I was reminded of where it all began.
A love for animals…
A difficult time in my life that lead to major changes…
A new beginning to a new chapter in my life.
These puppies were dumped…left to die…on the side of the road for who knows how long💔💔💔

3 sisters, clinging to each other…and clinging to life.

They are all dehydrated, all malnourished and all deserving of a far better life.
They’re fragile and one of them crashed last night. I had all but buried her…😥

Vet advise, quick action and prayers for a miracle 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I’m tired and I’m incredibly grateful that all 3 are still here. They’ve all got a strong will to live and the fight to get through this bump in their road!!

Today Becky was treated with a full body equine massage…and a new set of front shoes🐴💕💕

Yesterday we learned that she will need surgery to remove the growth on her face and that she has foundered in the past. We will be taking care of her and getting her back on track!!

Her surgery will be scheduled for late April, giving us time to raise the funds🙏🏻

Becky is 20 years old and rideable. She will be up for adoption once she has recovered 🐴

UPDATE on Maverick:
It was a LONG night for us. I’m running on 3.5 hours of rest- not necessarily sleep
Maverick did lay down for a bit and was able to get up on his own- albeit not the prettiest sight.

Sadly, we will be saying our goodbyes to our sweet boy and putting his body to rest.

He has known absolute LOVE and has had the best care that can be provided thanks to all of YOU and your never ending support over his 8 year stay💕💕🐴
We’ve supported him through his complete loss of sight, his senior needs and through it all he has been the best trouper!
He has remained very HUMBLE and has always been one of the healthiest horses here!
He will be missed by SO MANY of the people who’s lives he’s touched - and I know he would want us to celebrate his life and keep good memories in our hearts and minds for years to come💕💕

To Maverick I must say I love you my sweetest old man and I will hold him in my heart until we meet again❤️‍🩹💕😘

Thank you all for sharing his journey and helping to make his last years the best he’s ever known😘😘😘

Maverick has become an inspiration to me and a mascot for our rescue over the last 8 years of his residency.

He is the only sanctuary horse we have here…

He just turned 41 🎉🎉🎉 and these 28 degree nights are really hard on him. I do everything in my power to be sure he’s well cared for and comfort… tonight I’m asking for some help in the form of prayer.

Maverick has not been doing well this winter. It’s been the hardest on him of all the years.
The vet comes tomorrow to check on him and be sure I’m doing “all the things” possible.

Please pray that he’s warm and comfortable tonight… and that I do not have to post asking for help with his final expenses 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
