Check out this awesome news! BGP Ranch and Aviaries keeps expanding their talents.
We have some exciting news coming the BGP Ranch and Aviaries. Blake is certified to conduct the Pullorum-Typhoid test and submit swabs for Avian Influenza testing for poultry within the State of Oklahoma. He is now an Authorized Testing Agent for the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
What is Pullorum-Typhoid?
Pullorum & Fowl Typhoid (PT) Pullorum and Fowl Typhoid are septicaemic diseases, primarily of chickens and turkeys, caused by Gram negative bacteria, Salmonella Gallinarum and S. Pullorum. Fowl typhoid should not be confused with typhoid fever in humans, which is caused by a distinctly different organism.
What is NPIP: The NPIP is a voluntary StateāFederal cooperative testing and certification program for poultry breeding flocks, baby chicks, poults, hatching eggs, hatcheries, and dealers.
Why become NPIP certified?
Being NPIP certified means that your flock has been tested, and found to be devoid of whichever infectious disease you certify is absent. The program now includes many different diseases and applies to all sorts of flocks.
Major benefits of NPIP are:
Standard terminology for disease classification. International recognition. Listing in USDA-VS publication. Aids in poultry sales and/or movement of product, especially across state lines.
Message us to have your flock NPIP tested. $1 a bird in Oklahoma City, Edmond, Piedmont, and Yukon. Other cities a farm visit fee would apply.
