Tommy had his first visit to the vet today. Most likely dumped. He was found not far from here. He degloved his hoove, broke his teeth, bit his tongue pretty badly and has road rash and bruising from head to toe. Thankfully no broken bones. We will have to bandage his little foot until a new hoof grows back. If it does not grow back we will have to have his toe amputated. There is a 50/50 chance of this being the next treatment. While he was under for X-rays we went ahead and had him neutered. His is home now with his new best friend Hawkeye. So relatively good news and praying his little hoof nail will grow back in a few months. His teeth that broke were smoothed down to help his tongue heal. This little one is a gentle little sweetheart. We are guessing he’s only about 4 months old. Thank you all for your continued support and love. Tommy is going to be ok! We just know it.

Well we’re weren’t expecting to have another emergency intake like this in a week. Looks as though this little guy was either dumped or jumped off a truck. He has pretty significant road rash on his belly, side, leg and chin. He is not putting weight on his back leg, so my fear is that he too has a broken leg. I will load the video I just took next. We have to get him seen tomorrow so he doesn’t end up like Moxie did with it setting wrong. Funds are extremely low but we just couldn’t turn him away. Our auction did not do well at all this year. It’s seems it’s been that way with several others doing auctions too. If you can find it in your heart to help we be so apprecative. My heart is absolutely broken for him. We have him on meloxicam and CBD for the night. He will most definitely need X-rays and sedation to do them. Timing is absolutely horrible but we’ve got to help him.

Dr Hofmann and her staff did an amazing job with our two big boys, Brooks and Dunn. They both needed hoof trims and had cracks in them. They got them all looking handsome again. We weren’t expecting the bill to be quite as high as it was and could use a little help restoring their accounts. If you’d like to help the boys we’d be ever so grateful. As a 501c3 we rely heavily on donations. And funds are down this year.

Sorry for the delay we have been crazy busy today. Our new little friend is sleeping and relaxing this evening. We have good news and not so good news. To start out his case seems to lean closer to an attack of the horse. He had some pretty significant head trauma but is going to be ok. He is totally blind in his left eye. There is a chance we will need to have it surgically removed. The other eye protrudes from cranial pressure. He has extremely limited vision in that eye. However the vet thinks he’ll be ok and it does not need to be removed. We will work our way down. We noticed some swelling in his back so asked to have that xrayed. No broken back but he shows signs of arthritis. He’s pretty hunched backed doe to try to compensate for his leg. No treatment needed for that just yet. Now to his legs. The right leg is perfectly fine. The left leg well, not so great. It seems as though the break happened much longer ago than we originally thought. He has completely healed but unfortunately not properly. He healed bowed and shorter in length. The splint may have stabilized it a tad but the break happened much longer long before he was found due to the calcium build up around the area. He is still not weight bearing on it because of the way it healed. We can do surgery down the road however he has lost the length to it and no way to really get that back. He gets along fine without it right now. We are hoping now that the splint is off he will try to use it more. We are hopeful that he can just use the strong leg and start to regain strength in the left in the next few months. Until then no treatment surgically. Just therapy daily to help with the range of motion. We will know more as time goes on. This evening he doesn’t appear to be in pain. He’s extremely happy to have the splint off. We will try to get a video in the next few days. Here are the X-rays of his left leg. If you all remember Jack, well he’s the splitting image of our sweet Jack that passed earlier this year from consuming rocks. This boy has stolen all of our hearts here already. He loves belly rubs and love to snuggle Krysta. We think that having him here has already helped her with the mourning of Jack. These animals are so amazing. We love healing them while in turn they heal us. He will not be adopted out as he has already call Chris P’s his forever home. Now let’s get this boy a name!!

Time for
🐷 NAME THAT PIG!! 🐷

This is an emergency fundraiser for our new little broken friend that arrived yesterday. We will be getting him in to the vet tomorrow to give him a thorough assessment and plans for treatment. He is a sweet tempered piggy even when he’s in pain. He’s a real trooper and has been so patient with us cleaning him up and assessing him here. He’s a big snuggle bug. Now we aren’t sure if he’s a truck jumper or he was trampled on by a horse. We’ve gotten a couple of stories. Tomorrow will be the time we can put the pieces together consulting with the vets and their findings.

How to play. For each name suggestion list please send $5 to one of the payments options below. Please be sure that before you submit there is not a duplicate name already been suggested. We just don’t want 32 Bob’s and only one Jim. Hope this makes sense. Once you have paid please submit the name in the comments below section section in this post. Once payment is verified we will add your suggestion to the list. Once we have enough names we will do a drawing. The person that suggested that name will win a Chris P. Surprise. He loves giving out surprises. We would like to get at least 20-30 names before tomorrow so we have a name for him when he goes to the vet. Who’s ready? We are excited to see what our new friends name will be. Ready? Set? Go?

So far after our assessment today, we have good news and bad news with our new little friend. He has several lacerations obviously wounds from what may have happened to him. He has one protruding eye and the other one is severely damaged. Lots of pressure behind the one that is protruding. He has swelling on his snout on the ridge of his snout, and we believe that he’s got some oral problems as well. His tongue hangs out one side. On on his back, we have noted pretty significant swelling so we will have x-rays taken on his back and snout as well on Tuesday. As for his leg, it is splinted and he’s doing OK with that being splined. However, he is still non-weight-bearing. you can tell that he has been in pain but now we have him on meloxicam and CBD. He’s having a hard time eating, but he is eating so that’s good. He is such a sweet boy and has no problems behaviorally that we have seen. He has been snuggling up with Krysta for a long period of time. It was an easy transport for him and the good news is we see the vet on Tuesday. He is standing, but like I said not weight-bearing on it. The other good news is that he is neutered so we will not have to get that done. We have been told two different stories, one that he possibly was a truck jumper and two that a horse stepped on him. We are beginning to think the latter of the two. We just wanted to give you an update so you can follow his story. We will get ready to start a contest to name him. We are just trying to figure out his condition before we do anything so look for a contest tomorrow and we will start that. He is absolutely a sweetheart, and he is in a good place with a great Vet staff willing to help him. He is all tucked in for the evening and listening to some good music and we will keep you posted more as we know more. We want to thank you all so much for your support. Please remember that if you would like to donate here are the following links. His initial treatment will be quite extensive and we could use the help. We are hoping and praying that no severe surgery will be needed.
