Loose leash heeling
What we mean by loose leash walking! We made it all the way to tractor supply for some environmental training. So proud of this girls progress, only up from here!!
Chloe has been graduated from our day training program for about a year & comes to our daycare now. Her mom & her went on vacation to South Carolina & just look at this absolute beauty of a recall this girl has on her! 🤩👏🏼 Enjoying her off leash freedom with peace of mind for her mom. Kalie Keener

The obedience doesn’t count unless you can do it in 5 places! Were big on working with distraction

Snow day turned into a snow week but the dogs loved it!
Nothing beats having an off leash trained dog!
10 month old onyx really getting the hang of being calm, even around people in public!
Practicing holding the climb in Winona with tons of distractions!
Not everyone likes to play in the rain! Thankfully my umbrella is big enough for the both of us
Training only works if YOU do!! Mykenzie Daniels working with her dog, roxy, with impulse control! Love receiving videos & pictures like this!
Importance of a solid recall! Having confidence in your dog to give them the freedom of being off leash is something we strive for here at Marshall k9! Arie is 7 months old & has been training with us for a little over a month now!Schedule your appointment today 574-306-6114
Just wanted to take a second to brag on Mr. Tucker here! He is a 2 year old Yorkshire Terrier. This took 10 minutes for him to do, we took it slow and steady to build his confidence but once he understood it, he got it!
Having a solid recall allows dogs to roam freely without the confinement of a leash. Guinness here is extremely hyper & gets the zoomies just about every time I get him out to train. It would be unfair for me to keep his freedom at the length of a 6 foot leash which is why his mom saw the importance of having a solid recall in order to have that off leash dog! Guinness signed up for our one month board & train program and this is his 13th day.
Kimber enjoying his walk while staying warm on the treadmill! Kimber has an abundance of energy & the treadmill really gives us a way for him to release it. Treadmill training is GREAT when no one wants to walk outside especially in this freezing weather!
Who would’ve thought that cows would be a great distraction! Jade doing an amazing job at holding a long down while our cow, Heidi, came through to say hi!
Roxy enjoying some ball time at daycare!
“My dog is dumb, they don’t listen to anything I say”. This is Vasca, my 8 year old Dutch shepherd. She loves the ball & food, so I used that to my advantage. Today, I took her back to food & we are learning to walk backwards. I was walking one step forward a couple steps back. How long until she understand it completely? That’s purely up to me & my consistency with her training. Just because I know what I want her to do doesn’t mean she knows what I want her to do! This is new to her, I need to take baby steps. Today we rocked back & fourth, tomorrow we might add in a few more steps but I will work at her speed until she understands what I’m asking! Being consistent about the training helps speed up the progress! So is your dog dumb or are you not speaking their language?
Reactive dogs are not “bad” dogs. They are usually fearful dogs with a bad approach to handleing their fear. Obedience can build confidence! Waylon is a 4 year old hound-Doberman mix who has reactivity problems to people, cars, other dogs etc. specifically when he is on leash! This is his second day of training. Instead of giving Waylon the option to show aggression & bark he’s preoccupied with a sit. I don’t want these two dogs to interact right now but instead just co-exist with each other.
Training is FUN! If you’re not out of breathe after working with a high energy dog then you did something wrong! Not only are you playing with your pup, they’re also learning at the same time! It’s great way to make them tired, make progress in training, & build tons of engagement. We can show you how to do that! Call us 574-306-6114
It’s all about fun but it’s also about control! Dogs are allowed to be excited to see other dogs and play however they also need to cap their excitement and the best way to do that is through obedience. Reward the calm behavior!
