This was our only boy in the family, Jasper. Jasper came to us the same way Ava did, through one of my daughters. Jasper was a good boy and loved his family...but he wasn't crazy about anyone else. He was very obedient and would put his head under your hand if you stopped rubbing him. He and Ave had been together for years and years but he passed away last year. The most frequent phrase that I used with him was a very accurate one as well...Good boy, Jasper". We still miss him.

Now Ava is our old girl. She is 12 years old and is starting to show it. While she used to be my daily running buddy, we've had to cut back on that some time ago and now she just goes on a short walk with me early in the day. She was actually my daughter's dog when she moved out (Ava as a puppy then) but she ended up staying with us and becoming a part of our family. She still has a very intimidating bark though and loves for us to spend time with her. My other daughter did the same thing and we got Jasper from her. Jasper and Ava were an inseparable pair until he passed away last year, so we have to make sure we hang out with her one-on-one daily. She is happiest when one of us sits down with her and in her own little space.

I was Freckles' person. She was one of the most loving dogs and never met anyone she didn't like. She passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer. We still miss her very much.

The Benefits of In-Home Pet Sitting vs. Kennels: A Paw-sitive Choice for Your Furry Friends

When it comes to traveling or working long hours, pet owners face a common dilemma: Should they opt for traditional kennels or choose in-home pet sitting? While both options have their merits, in-home pet sitting offers numerous advantages that make it a paw-sitive choice for the well-being and happiness of your furry companions. In this post, we'll explore why in-home pet sitting might be the ideal choice for you and your beloved pets.

1. Comfort of Familiar Surroundings

One of the primary benefits of in-home pet sitting is that your pets get to stay in the comfort of their own home. Cats and dogs are creatures of habit, and a sudden change in environment can be stressful. Being in their familiar surroundings can alleviate anxiety, reduce the risk of behavioral issues, and keep them feeling secure and relaxed.

2. Personalized Attention

In a kennel, your pet may have to share attention with numerous other animals. In contrast, with in-home pet sitting, your pet is the center of attention. Professional pet sitters offer personalized care, ensuring that your pet's specific needs, whether it's medication, exercise, or special dietary requirements, are met with care and precision.

3. Reduced Risk of Illness

Kennels can sometimes be breeding grounds for illness due to the close proximity of many animals. In-home pet sitting minimizes the risk of exposure to contagious diseases and parasites, which is especially important for young, elderly, or immunocompromised pets. Your pet's health and safety are the top priorities of in-home pet sitters.

4. Less Stressful Routine

Maintaining your pet's usual routine is crucial for their well-being. In a kennel, the daily schedule may not align with your pet's habits. In-home pet sitters can stick to your pet's established routine for feeding, playtime, walks, and sleep, reducing stress and helping them feel more secure.

5. Reduced Separation Anxiety

Pets often experience separation anxiety when their owners leave. In-home pet sitting helps mitigate this anxiety because your pet remains in their own space with a trusted caregiver. This familiarity can make a significant difference in their emotional well-being during your absence.

6. Extra Services and Home Care

In addition to taking care of your pets, in-home pet sitters can provide other essential services like collecting mail, watering plants, and even ensuring home security. This added convenience can make your time away worry-free and more enjoyable.

7. Daily Updates and Peace of Mind

Most professional in-home pet sitters offer daily updates, including photos and messages, so you can stay connected with your pets and see that they're happy and healthy. This ongoing communication provides peace of mind, knowing that your pets are in capable hands.

8. One-on-One Bonding

In-home pet sitting offers an unparalleled opportunity for one-on-one bonding between your pet and the sitter. This close relationship can be especially beneficial for pets that thrive on human interaction and attention.

In summary,

In-home pet sitting is a top-notch choice for pet owners who want to ensure their beloved companions receive the best care while they are away. The benefits of in-home pet sitting, including maintaining a comfortable and familiar environment, personalized attention, and reduced stress, make it a preferred option over traditional kennels.

At WAGS Pet Sitting Service, we'll treat your pet like family. Like they were ours. We'll do our best to make sure your pets can enjoy the love, attention, and comfort they deserve while you're away, making your time apart as stress-free and enjoyable as possible for both you and your furry friends.
