Throwaway Dogs
The throwaway dogs. That’s what I’m gonna start calling the rescue dogs that come in because I believe when I say throw away it seems to get everybody’s attention a little bit more, when someone says rescue dog, they just feel sorry for the dog which isn’t helping anybody especially the dog. All too often we look at dogs like they’re supposed to know exactly how to act out in our world. But the reality is that we’ve asked these animals to come into our lives, and we’ve shown them no leadership no guidance and just assume that because the dog we had before in our past, who was just one of those great dogs that all dogs should act like that dog, well it’s not gonna happen, not like that. Some of these dogs need more leadership, more guidance, or they’ve experienced trauma in the young age and it is shaped them into juvenile delinquents and or fear, aggression or resource guarding issues or separation anxiety issues. The list just goes on and on and nobody wants to take care of it at least that’s what we see from my trainer standpoint or the shelter standpoint or the rescues. The general perception is that all of those places should just take all the dogs. It’s an easy fix. What exactly are all these places supposed to do with all these dogs? What’s the answer as a society? We have got to stop looking at everybody else to come up with the answer. I stated in the video that each one of these dogs has the potential to be a great family pet. Potential being the keyword there, because once they leave the rescue or the shelter, or even a trainers facility what happens after that is what matters. It is up to the new family to keep up with training rules, structure and boundaries so that they too can have the dog that they met that was living that type of lifestyle and was displaying well-behaved manners, and being comfortable in certain situations. This post sounds a little frustrated and you’re exactly right and the frustration comes because if we
BYE 2023 HELLO 2024
We are blessed beyond words for our clients families and friends who have made this year spectacular!!! Happy New Year to all. ❤️🐾❤️
Rambo
Rambo working his Out Command. Fantastic job
Stark still needs a home, his adopters back out at the last minute before even taking him home. Stark is a good guy. Would do better as the only dog since he’s a little selective with friends. He loves people and has been a really nice boy during his training here. Spread the word. Likes are great but shares find homes. Reach out to Husky Haven of Florida to start the process!! 🇺🇸❤️
Parts of Sugars morning, today we are layering the Ecollar tone feature to her Recall word of “Here”, little nugget did great. Why is this important? Bottom line a great recall can keep your dogs safe and we definitely want to make sure Sugar knows the rules because in the end she needs to be safe even from herself.
Never say never. Rocky has been secretly working on overcoming his fear of water. And WOW did it pay off!! Sometimes pushing over threshold comes with a great outcome but you will never know until you try!! Soooooo proud of this boy. In just a little over 3 weeks he’s gone from wanting to react, lunge, bite and fight to a calmer dog, who knows his obedience commands, practicing duration place, walking nice on a leash and you guessed it my new buddy. Lol funny how rules structure and boundaries can help. Rocky needed help and we are so happy that we have been able to help him. Woohoo great day!! Fantastic job Rocky! 💙🐾💦
Zoe & Benji practicing everything!! Great morning walk then off to the blue room to have some fun & work on confidence building. Great Pups!!
Mr Rocky working on calm, following instructions and being handler focused. Baby steps
Jett spends his mornings working on his obedience skills, our afternoons we walk, play or take adventures. Everything he learns in the morning helps the rest of the day. Building up his confidence, learning to control his impulses and to focus. Jett is still looking for that one person who can give him a home to thrive in. If you are interested in meeting Jett please DM me so we can set that up. Have a wonderful Sunday.
Rusty did the pack walk today and saying we are proud of him isn’t enough!! Training can make all the difference in the world for dogs like Rusty. Giving them the skills and confidence to tackle the challenges they think they have. Wonderful walk! If your dog struggles we are here to help. Rusty is going to continue to blossom over time with the help of his owners following through with his training and I can’t wait to hear about his adventures. Thank you to all who joined the walk today and making this a good memory for Rusty. It was also nice to see Willy & Smudge out there working it too!! Have a great Sunday everyone! 💙🐾
Winter! He’s such a lover
Be patient with your training. Be calm and quiet, use a low distraction area to start your training. Odin started with lots of guidance, food and some leash pressure, now I’ve taken away the help and need him to think about his next move. Odin had a great breakfast 💕
Fear comes out in many different ways. Meet Rusty. Rusty is a fearful dog, he lunges, growls, and snaps at strangers or strange dogs when he’s uncomfortable. If you ask, where do you take Rusty? The answer is nowhere because this is how he handles the outside world. His friends and family are a small group who he knows and seems to be fine around. His owners can’t have friends over due to his reactivity issues. They’ve spent money on previous trainers and did not get the results they were hoping for. The issues are still in the forefront of their days. Rusty will be spending the next several weeks here learning to calm his mind and build up his confidence. Under all that unnecessary nonsense is a pretty great dog, we are going to help him bring that out more. Lots to do and we are off to a good start.
Recall is one of the most important commands you can teach. Molly started her recall indoors in a low distraction environment and now we’ve moved outdoors to see just how well she is learning. Molly is on fire today!! So proud of this girl. 6 days ago she would poop herself because she was so scared and today we are seeing a much more confident pup! We are also layering her Ecollar over her recall and she is doing amazing with the communication. Go Molly!!
Molly….stepping out of her comfort zone!! Little lady is amazing herself 💕
Sweet Henry working those off leash skills!💙
Gracie heads home in a few days and this beautiful girl rocked it out in town today!! Off to the park and Lowe’s……fantastic day!! 💕
Gracie goes home in a couple days and we are going to miss this sweet, lovable, clumsy, beautiful girl. Gracie has worked so hard, mostly on getting her front feet to work with the rest of her body. Those wheels are turning!! So proud of her and we hate to see her go but her family is ready to start the rest of her story. 💕 fantastic job today!!
