It’s dress giveaway time!!!! 🎉🥳👏🏼🤩

We are SUPER excited because we have a collection of HOMECOMING DRESSES to offer for the first time! These have been made available by the generosity of ALL Y’ALL and a HUGE shoutout to Unique Boutique of Pikeville who just donated a WHOLE BIG BUNCH of beautiful, brand new dresses for our project. ❤️

If you’ve been around us, you know our heart for this project. If not, I know you’re wondering why in the world a vet clinic is into formal wear…🤔? Well, short version of a long story is that God put this in our hearts after the flood to be able to give back to our amazing community in some tangible way. Times are hard for everybody right now, and our goal is to allow some young lady to feel like a princess for a night without creating financial strain on the family. And to show you in some small way that God loves you and we do, too!

These dresses are available at no charge to the student, but we do have a few ground rules:
👗Student must be present to try on the dresses. We will give you a private try-on room. We cannot send dresses out without a student present.
👗One dress per student
👗At this time, we are limiting this to high school students who will be attending HOMECOMING

❤️If you know students who could use this, tell them! And if you know someone who works at a school, ask them to get the word out, too!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! Today we are honoring all DADS—those still with us, those who have gone before, and uncles/grandfathers/big brothers/bonus dads who have selflessly taken on that role. I know that I am truly blessed to have THE most amazing strong, kind, and wise dad on the planet in Richard Maynard, and also my awesome hard-working and sacrificial husband and dad to my babies in Bill Rauth. They are blessings beyond compare to my family and me and are a true picture of Christ’s love!

Today, though, I know is a sad day for many who endure this day with grief and pain, and I want you to know that we see you and are praying for you. Maybe you’re still grieving the loss of your dad, or maybe your relationship was not what it should’ve been through zero fault of your own. Not all fathers are good dads, for sure— that’s not the way it is supposed to be and it’s not your fault. But please know this…YOU ARE LOVED MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW by our Heavenly Father, the King and Creator of the Universe, who is proud to call you His child, and He will be a good, good Father all of your days if you will let Him. He never walks away, never breaks His promises, and loves with a love that never fails. 💛

🐾VALLEY VET CLINIC IS NOW HIRING!🐾

We are seeking qualified candidates for TWO positions: (1) Front desk (2) Veterinary Assistant

Necessary qualifications for FRONT DESK:
🐾MUST have prior reception/front desk experience in a medical or veterinary office. This position requires a LOT of face-to-face contact with clients, answering phones, accurately relaying messages, appointment scheduling, filing, computer and sales/clerk skills, and major multi-tasking and patience. APPLICANTS WITHOUT PRIOR OFFICE EXPERIENCE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AT THIS TIME.

Necessary qualifications for VET ASSISTANT:
🐾MUST have prior veterinary assistant experience. This position is EXTREMELY physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. It requires the ability to tolerate standing for almost the entire shift, lifting and restraining large dogs (and sometimes very angry cats). Applicants must have a strong skill set in interpersonal relations, accurate communication and medical record-keeping. MUST be able (after proper training) to consistently do weekend and mid-week after-hours kennel shifts to help care for boarding and hospitalized patients.

Both of these positions are very difficult and demanding and definitely not “playing with puppies and kittens all day” and not for the faint of heart. We insist on accuracy, good communication, a cohesive team environment, and the best patient care a clinic can possibly provide.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! ❤️🌸💜🌼💙🌺💚

Today we celebrate you, moms! I am eternally thankful for my own mom, Judy Maynard, who is the epitome of a Godly mother. She is a priceless jewel and I really do want to be like her when I grow up. She is as tough as a pine knot, the perfect mamaw to my babies, as hard a worker as you’ll ever meet, an amazing cook and housekeeper, and most importantly, she loves Jesus, and her family, fiercely.

That word “mother” is also a verb—to nurture, to train, to raise, to sacrifice for another, to provide and protect. I am also thankful for all those who fill that role in our lives. I’m thankful for the single moms who are a picture of strength, the aunts and grandmothers raising babies like their own, the foster/adopt moms making room in their hearts and homes, and step moms/bonus moms/mothers-in-law all making it happen with grace and love.

I am also thinking of you and praying for those of you for whom today is a really difficult day. Those of you missing moms who have passed on, embracing only sweet memories of them this day. I’m also praying for those who so long to be a mom but struggle with infertility. Those who have a sweet angel in heaven they never got to hold in their arms or those who saw children leave this earth too soon. The older I get, the more I realize this day is difficult for so many and I want you to know that you are seen, you are prayed for, and you are loved more than you know. 🖤

If you still have your mom, or a special aunt, a mamaw or someone who just “mothered” you because she could, call her today. Let her know she is special and let her know you care. Thank her for changing your poopie diapers and teaching you to blow your nose and use a spoon. Thank her for bandaging knees, making grilled cheese just the way you like it, and knowing how to put that tricky straw in a Capri-sun. Thank her for thinking of things like sunscreen, bug spray, and snacks for the car. And thank her for buying toilet paper, dryer sheets, hand soap, umbrellas, socks and underwear, dental floss and all those other little things that we all need but don’t think about how they actually get in the house. Thank her for countless taxi rides to ballgames, practices, rehearsals and the like. Thank her for working concession stands and washing sweaty uniforms. Apologize if you almost killed her in childbirth 🙋🏻‍♀️(sorry about that, Mom...seriously). Take her some flowers, FaceTime her, make a nice post and brag on her cooking a little extra. It really doesn’t take much, but it means a lot. AND PLEASE GIVE HER A SHOUTOUT IN THE COMMENTS!

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all of you who voted us Best In The Mountains again! 🤩 It is hard for me to believe this is Valley Veterinary Clinic’s THIRTEENTH YEAR back home in the mountains we love. During that time, we’ve experienced lots of changes, and we believe the best is yet to come! 🥳

We are truly blessed to have the best clients ANNNNND THE BEST STAFF! These ladies are hard-working, kind and compassionate, strong, skilled, and truly are our family. There wouldn’t be a Valley Vet without these superstars—nobody knows the heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears that they put into the job they love EVERY SINGLE DAY! Free to a good home:

One year old male golden doodle, neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and in good health. His owner says he is smart and sweet, loves attention, but has gotten a little too big for their home. My bet is that he would love a safe fenced area where he could enjoy sunshine and exercise and then a nap on the couch with you while you watch a movie together. 🥰

We recommend heartworm testing even if your dog is on heartworm prevention. Annnd we recommend prevention year around. Questions? Just ask! ❤️

UPDATE!! The event has been POSTPONED until a later date due to the weather. Once we have a new date, it will be announced.

WEATHER DEPENDENT - If raining, we will reschedule to a later date.

PCHS will be participating with the annual University of Pikeville Alumni Association & Friends Paws in the Park again this year. We will be having spay/neuter sign ups on Thursday, April 11th starting at 6:30 pm. There is a $25.00 copay with a limit of two animals per household for Pike County residents only.

There will approximately 65 surgeries available.

The surgeries will be performed by Central Appalachian Veterinary Clinic in South Williamson, KY and will take place between mid-May and the end of June.

We look forward to seeing everyone again this year! Paws cross for great weather!
