Next summer we are planning to run several of our dogs in the AKC Spaniel Hunt Test program. Despite the name, this IS NOT a Spaniel only program It is open to roughly 18 breeds that do upland hunting and an opportunity to recieve their upland title. Both our labs, Flint and Breeze will be participating. Rob has put together a series of how we are preparing them for this new concept to the labs as well as taking all the Spaniels back through the basics. Here is the 1st video in the series.

Trial season is officially over for us here at Whitewater. We'll spend the next three months preparing for the spring trials. We're going to take all the big dogs back thru basic and have a few young dogs ready to start their yard work.
Two of our labs that have been running AKC and HRC retriever hunt test will be getting ready to run in the Spaniel hunt test next year. So they will be jumping in with the spaniels as they go thru basic training. We started with simple casting drills yesterday. We'll keep everyone there for the next ten day or so then we'll started basic pattern work.

Maverick got his first All Age Open placement this past weekend at the Northwest English Springer Spaniel Club Field Trial. This was his 4th Open run and the second time he made it back to the 3rd. Was a great trial, excellent grounds, excellent birds, great gunning and judges. Super proud of this youngster, was able to get a placement amongst a field of very competitive, talented dogs and handlers, including his dad Hawk and mom Maddie😎. Looking forward to the next one!

Whitewater Gundogs Rob got all three Cockers through their 2nd and 3rd session of Introduction to the gun this past weekend. Special thanks to Tyler Hall, Trevin and Lyndi Hall for throwing birds and gunning so I could video🥰All did great! Ready to move out into the field on planted birds. Boone, McKenzie and River had their Introduction to the Gun Sessions. Like all the pups we start this way, they are so focused on the retrieve, intro of the shot is no issue. They are doing great, so pleased with their progress. Will be fun to watch these little balls of fire grow up. Boone will be spending hunting season in the field with his new owners and McKenzie and River will be moving into obedience and field work

The Columbian Basin Pointing Lab Club out of the Tri City area held an eye clinic today. So we loaded up a truck load of dogs and rolled out of here a 6:30 this morning. In total we had 10 dogs eyes certified happily all 10 had good eyes. Stopped for lunch then picked up some bird feed and home by 12:30. Not a bad morning.

Photo dump of the puppies week 5. Growing, learning and thriving, getting more fun every day! All but the lime green little girl have forever families and begin going to new homes August 22nd. As always we get attached to these little bugs in the short time we have to love them and treasure every monent, but are excited for their futures. Another fun demograghic region for this group, 2 to North Dakota, One to Utah and 2 to Northern California, will be fun to watch them grow up!

Pups wasted no time in figuring out solid food! Growing so fast, loving the freedom of open whelping box and exploring the play yard. Tent and tunnel come out this weekend, as well as the little water play tub, perfect timeing for this HOT weekend!

4 weeks today! So fun to spy on them. Ironic choice of bedding this morning as it is supposed to be upper 90's. Pups teeth are all in, get to try puppy food in the next day or two, and will get free reign of the room and play yard right around the corner.

Puppies got liberated from the whelping box to come in and play in the living room for a bit. Dove right into Introduction to toys and even easily navigating the wood floor. All are right at 3 lbs. now, perfect for the 3 week mark. Teeth are coming in, so weaning will start in the next week with intro to mush. Sorry, I mis marked the lime collar for the blue collar, turns out blue collar "Bristol" was off exploring around the corner. They are an active bunch, next week will get to play in the yard!
