💜 Operation Face Hug 💜
We are scheduled to take in 400 more rescue gliders this Saturday. Can you help?
2 weeks ago today, we took in a group of 140 rescue sugar gliders who had never been handled, never eaten a fruit or a veggie, and never slept in a pouch. Today, most of them are in permanent homes, and by the end of the week all will have been neutered and vetted. I want all of you to know how much we appreciate your time, effort, and donations for the first phase of this massive undertaking. We could not do it without all of your help. I wish I could send a personal thank you note to everyone. Thank you.
Saturday, we will be taking in 400 more. This is More than double what we took in just two short weeks ago. It seems like a lot, it will be a lot, and it is overwhelming to think about. But I can promise you, the alternative for these gliders, if we don't take them in is very, very bleak.
Here is how you can help:
1) Financial donations - I was pretty confident we would be ok on the first phase, which is nearly complete. The second phase - I'm getting nervous. Please donate. We will have vet bills, neuters, the cost of cages (which we have just ordered a bunch), and kibble (that alone will be around $1,000 this week when I order it), and the cost of transporting, which is skyrocketing. Please, donate using our website (www.SugarGliderGuardians.com) or our paypal (paypal.me/sugargldierguardians).
2) People local to Houston who can foster a colony (please message us if you can) or donate their time to help care for these gliders. We will need help setting up for saturday. Cages need to be built, paper needs to be put in the trays, water bottles need to be washed and hung on cages, etc. If you can be here saturday and have a cage, send me a message. You can probably foster, and we need you! You need to be local, not from hours away, because fosters will have to be brought back here for neuters when it is their turn.
3) Pouches for sleeping. Please send them if you have them or can buy them from a vendor. These will be in very short supply.
4) Adopt - contact us if you are in any part of the country and would like to adopt. Application does not guarantee you can adopt, but it is a step closer, and we are motivated to find great homes.
5) Transport - if you plan to or are able to make a trip to texas and transport gliders to another area of the country, let us know.
Thanks Guardians! Can we do this? I hope we can do this. More updates to come.
