Just a friendly reminder 🧡🫶🏼

“Busy season is here y’all! Whether it’s tractors & planters, fertilizer spreaders, or anhydrous tanks, use this as a reminder for when you’re annoyed that you’re stuck behind a piece of machinery for 5 minutes of your drive. Think before you pass. Someone’s life could depend on it.”

Good afternoon! Thank you to Simmons Bank for generously sponsoring the Southeast District Livestock Show, Home Economics, and Arts and Crafts Exhibits for 2021!

I have been getting lots of questions on if there will be a Rodeo Queen Pageant this year, and sadly that answer is No. We hope to bring rodeo action and the Rodeo Queen Pageant back to the District Fair in 2022.

However...🗣️GO OUT AND SUPPORT THOSE LIVESTOCK KIDS AND FAIR EXHIBITORS!!! They work so hard all year long. See y'all wonderful people there!

Good evening, Director Paige here. Please keep our friend Sunnie Dee Wynn in your prayers. Sunnie Dee and her family are huge supporters of the Miss Rodeo USA Pageant, Miss Sunbelt Pageant, and many more. Sunnie Dee had a very invasive surgery earlier this week and is having a rough go. Please pray they are able to get her pain under control and she will be able to get back to doing everything she loves soon!

Good evening friends, this is Director Paige. It's never easy making these posts. Another dear friend of the SEARK Rodeo Queen Pageant, Mrs. Mary Ellen Pepper, has passed away. Mary Ellen and her husband Earl have judged many Rodeo Queen pageants, and ours is no exception. I couldn't tell you how many times I would be sitting on the camper floor sorting awards with Mary Minnie and Mary Ellen perched above, supervising. Many times Mary Ellen would say "miss congeniality's pile looks a little light" or "don't you think that flag boot would go good with that saddle pad for the first runner up?" So girls if you got an award you loved, Mary Ellen likely put it in your pile. Mary Ellen was one heck of a horsewoman and a friend to all. I loved all of her stories and I will miss all the camper floor chats. I hope all the cowgirls in heaven have their horses legged up, because Mary Ellen Pepper is entered tonight!

Please pray for Earl and Mary Ellen's family and many friends during this difficult time.

Thank you Stacy McKiever Janes and Mary Minnie for sharing photos and service details.

Services for Mary Ellen Pepper are as follows:

Visitation Thursday March 11th 6pm to 7pm at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Valliant, Oklahoma.

Services will be Friday March 12th at 2pm at The Church in Millerton, Oklahoma.

The family will gather at the home of Kyle and Jessica Pepper Coffman in Idabel.

The Family would like to Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers, calls and messages during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Mary Ellen's name to the WRCA crisis fund, at www.WRCA.org

Longtime South Arkansas Livestock Show Association board member Thurman Hopkins passed away on February 13, 2021. Our friend "Hop" will be greatly missed. He never missed a rodeo perf (or Horsemanship competition) and helped many rodeo queens on their journeys to becoming better horsewomen. Hop offered a helping hand to anyone that needed it and always had words of wisdom to share. I'll miss hearing "What ya think, front Paige" the most. Several of us have mentioned on other posts about how you always got your money's worth when you took a lesson with Hop because when he said he was going to "work horses," he meant it in every sense of the word. I remember being a hot shot 20 year old barrel racer home from college and taking my college rodeo horse over to his place for a lesson and begging for mercy! But every time we left there both of us were better. Hot, tired, and sweaty but better. Meanwhile Hop was saddling up 2 to 3 more and saying "Front Paige I may as well ride these before it gets any hotter." Lol. One time my reiner Boss came up lame at a show, Hop snatched his saddle off of his horse and threw mine on without hesitation so I could make the final show to qualify for state. And of course there was the time a baby opossum came trotting down the rail when we were setting barrels and neither of us were sure we REALLY just saw what we thought we saw. He says, "Front Paige did you see the jog on that possum?" Hop loved the Lord, his family, and horses. He will be greatly missed.

Please continue to pray for his family, especially his sweet wife Mrs. Carolyn and granddaughter Grace. The service will be held this Tuesday at Greenlee Memorial Baptist Church on Old Warren Road in Pine Bluff. Visitation at 1 and Funeral Service at 2.
