This is Margarita Barkarita. Yes, that is her actual name! 🍹

We recently performed a (comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment) for Margarita due to very advanced dental and periodontal issues noted on her initial oral exam. As you can see, many of her teeth were too diseased and infected to save, but it was important to get her dental issues addressed because Margarita is a .

Infections can increase insulin resistance, making it harder for a dog or cat with to respond appropriately to insulin injections. Margarita's mom is happy to report she has seemed more playful and active since her procedure, and we're so glad we have removed an obstacle to her diabetic control.

If your pet has , it's important to look for and address any infections that may develop, especially if his/her blood sugars become difficult to manage.
