Meringue is begging for someone to take her home.

She has been waiting for a home since August 2024. She likes to greet everyone at the front of her cage and if you don’t give her attention she’ll try to reach out for you. She loves head scratches and will soft purr .She will let let know when she’s done with pets and wants to curl up and relax..

She will probably do best as an only cats and no dogs.
She is about a year old, spayed, microchipped, up to date with her vaccinations & parasite preventatives and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

If you would like to meet our cats and kittens, we will be open to the public between 9-12 and 3-4 Monday through Friday, (weekends appointments available for approved applicants) for meet and greets. We still ask you to fill out an application prior to coming to speed up the process. If your application is approved, you will be able to adopt the same day! We do not adopt out of state so NJ residents only please. Check out our new online application:

Coyote mating season is underway, and with an increase in coyote sightings comes an increase in misinformation and misrepresentation on social media.

Such posts spread unnecessary fear and create a misleading narrative. Most coyote conflict can be avoided through proactivity, modification of human behavior, and responsible pet guardianship.

🐺 COYOTE MATING SEASON FACTS 🐺:
- Coyote mating season is from January through February. During this time, you might hear and see them more frequently as they vocalize to claim territory and partners.
- Coyotes live as individuals, as mated pairs, or in families.
- Coyotes do not become more aggressive this time of year. Coyotes will, however, protect their family and territory.
- Coyotes often mate for life and are highly devoted parents.

🐕 🐈 COEXISTENCE TIPS AND FACTS 🧑🐺:
- Although free roaming pets are more likely to be harmed by automobiles than by wildlife, coyotes may occasionally view cats and small dogs as potential prey and larger dogs as threats or competition.
- Coyotes DO NOT lure dogs. A coyote bark can mean "go away" and might be misinterpreted by a dog as "chase me." If a dog gives chase, the coyote might run toward the safety of their family and they will protect their own.
- Keep domestic animals, like rabbits or chickens, in proper enclosures.
- Supervise pets, especially at dawn and dusk.
- Do not feed coyotes. Secure trash, pet food, and other attractants.

🐾 HOW TO HUMANELY HAZE A BOLD COYOTE:
Coyotes will usually avoid people. Bold behavior is unusual and is often a result of habituation due to intentional/unintentional feeding, the presence of a dog, or a coyote protecting a den and their families.

If a coyote approaches you, make eye contact, leash your larger dog or pick up your smaller dog, and haze the coyote by being big and loud. Read the full hazing guide from Project Coyote: http://tinyurl.com/djcdnvye

It’s been so cold that the dogs haven’t been able to spent as much time outside. So we have been been working with Gail and Lindsay (Montville ACOs) on more enrichment items to keep them active in the short outside time and busy when thy are inside.
They love their peanut butter bowls (we smear peanut butter in a giant bowl for them to lick), frozen treat bowls (frozen broth, kibble, veggies) and today we tried a giant ball.
They had so much fun! We are going to order a few more so there is one in every outdoor pen!
,
We are so happy we are able to provide these items to the shelter!

Taylor ham loves the car and enjoys going for a ride. We made a few stops along the way, took a walk in the park before heading back to the shelter.

Taylor Ham is still waiting for her forever home!
