RideAbility held a Volunteer Appreciation Pizza Party on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 6:00pm at the Douglas Trailhead park in Pine Island, MN. We had a beautiful evening to celebrate all the volunteer's accomplishments for this riding season and cook individual pizzas in a portable pizza oven. Everyone brought/used a variety of pizza toppings, created a pizza customized for their own taste with those toppings and then watched their pizza bake to a golden brown in the oven. After a great pizza and a variety of dessert options, RideAbility Executive Director Jeanie Michelizzi reviewed a list of the major RideAbility accomplishments this season and announced the 2024 exceptional volunteers. A HUGE thanks to everyone who contributed to our success this year and we look forward to continuing our mission in 2025!

RideAbility had a perfect day on Sunday, September 8, 2024 for their annual Student Horse Show - a special day to recognize our rider's skills learned over the summer classes and then award the riders with ribbons to celebrate the results!

A HUGE thanks to our Horse Show judges Tom Truwe and Hanna Truwe, show assistant Paige and all our riders, families, volunteers and supporters who make this happen with a special recognition for all our wonderful horses who enable the whole RideAbility program!

RideAbility had three drawings for raffle items and we had three lucky winners! Congratulations!

'RideAbility 2024 Red White and Blue event' - July 19, 2024 - RideAbility hosted this annual event at the RideAbility Barn as a summer celebration! We had a beautiful summer day and our riders, families, volunteers and horses enjoyed the sunshine, comfortable temperature and low humidity to create great memories on this special day! A special thanks to all our volunteers who prepare the horses, participate as horse leaders or side walkers and then complete all the clean-up and put away after the event is finished. We had very tasty treats donated to refuel all our hungry attendees - thank you for your support! And of course, a huge thanks to our safe and reliable horses who make it all happen - without them, we'd just have to walk around! Until our next event, spread the word about RideAbility's program offerings, sign up a new volunteer and help out when you can!

As RideAbility heads into 2024 Summer Session #2 horseback riding classes we are highlighting -
Volunteer opportunities!

RideAbility is an organization in Pine Island (MN) that uses horses to provide therapy for children and adults with disabilities. People with disabilities ride a horse with several assistants nearby to ensure safety. RideAbility needs volunteers to be those assistants on the ground (called “side walkers”). These are often life changing experiences for clients.

You do not need horse experience to do this - most volunteers interact more with humans than horses.

Training is provided. (Official training scheduled for Thursday July 11 from 6:15pm to 8:15pm, and alternative times available)

Most volunteers help out on Monday and Tuesday evenings for 1-3 hours and there are many other opportunities.

This collection of photos shows horseback riding, wagon riding, straw bale rack riding, and our actual Barn Dance. A huge thanks to Mary and Bryan Hagen from the Lazy K Ranch who brought their Percheron horses for wagon rides and Avin Honecker Sherman as our barn dance caller who taught us all the right steps for all the barn dancing!

The 2024 RideAbility Barn Dance was held at the RideAbility farm on Saturday, June 8, 2024 with an absolutely beautiful day and tremendous support from our RideAbility clients, families, volunteers and horses. An important part of the Barn Dance is the Silent Auction of items donated to RideAbility to benefit the organization. Take a look at the wide variety of quality items that were available during the silent auction. A huge thanks to the people donating the items, our volunteers setting up the silent auction and managing the event and especially the people buying the items! It shows a great support for RideAbility!
