Chilly temps rolling in tonight Florida friends. Blocking the wind is important. Any frizzles, silkies, young critters will especially need the protection! Remember wind chill is harsher than listed temps.

I get this question all the time!

Quail Fact of the Day: can coturnix quail be free ranged???

No, they cannot. Coturnix don’t come back to a coop at night so if you let them free range they will not come back. Additionally, they don’t have many instincts left (because they’ve been bred for meat and egg production) so cannot protect themselves and would likely get eaten quickly. Consider these birds like you would a small pet, keep them secure in predator proof environments and don’t let them free range.

Quail friends, our current waitlist times.

Eggs must be ordered through our website. If you are local we will contact once ready for pick up. New color varieties releasing in March depending on when they were ordered may take several weeks to fill due to popularity. Most other varieties are moving faster with our fun assortments going out the quickest. If you’re waiting to order because you need delivery after a specific date you can notate that in the notes on your order. I cannot guarantee a specific date, but can send after a date requested.

Our local custom chick orders are currently at 3 weeks out. We do not ship chicks, chicks are local pick up only and can be ordered through our webpage. We will contact once available, must be prepaid to set a custom order.

Adult sexed birds again we will be shipping starting March 18th. We are waitlisted locally about 3 weeks out. They will be listed on the webpage soon, but feel free to reach out to get on the local list.

*Note* If you contact asking about availability and say you’ll get back with us in a few weeks but have not yet placed an order or waitlisted. Your spot is not held. Orders are filled dependent on payment and waitlist status.

Cull Ruthlessly…

The words feel so harsh as I come from a background of compassion, empathy, & healing. I am passionate about many things, my birds being just one of them.

At the end of the day, no matter what you are working towards, cull ruthlessly. This goes beyond just a breeding program. Your success is only as great at what you allow it to be, even the people you allow in. Cull mindsets that don’t serve you, cull negativity, cull bad habits, cull unhealthy stress & relationships, cull things that kill your joy, cull poor stock, and cull those that do not support your growth.

Build a barn full of joy & beauty, surround yourself with those that empower you, the people that support your success, let go of ego & entitlement, teach kindness, always keep learning, and don’t ever allow others to dull your fire🔥 Do what is right, not what is easy, and the rest will fall into place.

The pest pressure has begun…

This is not a pretty picture but it is garden truth. As we get further into our second garden build our goal here is to build a thriving ecosystem independent of chemicals and human intervention.

Many may know what these are and for those that do not these are aphids. They are a normal occurrence to many gardeners. We purposely plant cowpeas to attract them. They love cowpeas, and by leaving them be they will attract beneficial insects that will prey on them, giving us a free army of pest protection!
