Ripley worked on her left and right tunnels last night!
These cues will be needed once we start adding more distance work into our Agility handling. She's way faster than me.
Ripley's last pull of the weekend.
I cannot be more proud of this dog. At 41 lbs, she won her weight class of 41-60 lbs dogs all four events. (Turns out she did win pull 2 yesterday by .03 seconds 🙏). She earned 3/4 legs needed towards her working dog certificate. She earned 6-7 points towards rankings per pull. Ending somewhere in the 26ish point range.
I love this dog so much and for her to come out. Compete outdoors in 80°+ degrees in a full coat. Make over 20 pulls this weekend. In a much stricter venue. She worked hard for me and that's what I care about.
This weekend we are competing in IWPA with Florida All-Breed Dog Sports - FABDS . This weightpull venue is one we have never competed in before. Its much harder on the dog's since we can't be right in their faces, and have to be a certain distance away before you can talk. It was also quite hot out today, and Ripley has never competed outdoors before.
Today trial one she won her weight class and finished with 12.6x her body weight. Trial two she got second place in her weightclass and finished 11.8x her body weight. She was only second due to time, so I am very proud. I am so proud of this dog for working so hard for me with such different rules than what she is used to.
The trial was run excellently and I am thrilled to be able to go tomorrow.
Ripley won the Ch class twice today. No love in the bob ring, but she is very tired from our over 9 hour drive to make this show. We got into Fort Meyers at 3:30 am after the drive from Pensacola to here.
We are definitely getting ALL the sleep tonight. Two more days of showing!
Did a bit of drag work with Ripley today, and then ended the practice with just some full pulls (this video). She absolutely loves weightpull.
Ripley had a lovely contacts and weaves class tonight!
We proofed her a frame contacts with no babysitting to the bottom and crosses. Layered the dog walk with a tempting tunnel. And of course, worked on closed weaves.
Ripley running a masters course!
One of the reasons why I showcase Ripley working so much is because it's important for puppy owners to see how the parents think and learn and handle in the ring. Because more than likely their puppies are going to be similar.
I've been asked about what my upcoming events will be. Here's the plans for the next two months.
October 21-22nd - Barnhunt in Tampa
October 28-29th - Rally in Tampa
November 25-26th - UKC Conformation and Weightpull in Fort Meyers
I MAY try to squeeze in an AKC conformation show in mid November ir some more rally but we will see. Feel free to come out and meet Ripley or I.
Here is a cute video of Ripley carrying chips for me. She will happily do it. But she has to zoom when she does.
Some agility practice last night!
Ripley is SO close to doing a full 12 weaves. She can do two sets of 6 separately fully closed. And has a lot of independence in the weaves. Which I love.
We are also proofing some crosses on the contacts. I MAY have actually kicked her on that last rear cross. Sorry Ripley 🤦♀️
Proofing things like startline stays with high value obstacles. Ripley loves the dog walk and needs to know when to commit and when to engage with me.
Filmed Ripley this morning! Her cords just flow so well showcase her nice movement. They fit her personality perfectly.
Last night we do took Ripley and her friends to weightpull practice! Working on her pulling form. She's such a hard worker here. It was insanely hot even at night and we drove over 2 hours to go to this practice.
