This puppy and its 9 siblings were abandoned on one of the coldest days of the year last week. Someone found them and brought them to the Bell County Shelter. They were dehydrated and this one had a deep cut. The Shelter staff cared for them, and Friends of the Shelter took this puppy to the vet where he spent the night and was stitched up. These puppies would not have survived the 4 degree temperature that night. PLEASE DO NOT ABANDON YOUR PETS. IF YOU ARE A BELL COUNTY RESIDENT bring them into the Bell County Animal Shelter instead. There is no cost for this service to residents. When animals are abandoned in the woods or on the highway they have little chance of survival. These puppies have been treated and moved to our Rescue partner, and then on to their new homes. The Shelter is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm and 9:00 am until Noon on Saturday. THERE IS NO REASON TO ABANDON PETS WHEN EVERY COUNTY IN KENTUCKY HAS A SHELTER.

The Bell County Animal Shelter is taking applications for employment. The applicant can come by shelter between M-F 9am-3pm to pick up application. The applicant must be 18 years old, have a High School Diploma or GED, must be able to pass a drug test. Applicant must care about animals and have a good work ethic. Duties include, cleaning kennels, cat cages and puppy cages, good communcation skills with public, must be able to lift dogs and help with Animal Control on Emergency calls, must be able to adopt out animals, all training will be provided. Pay rate is $9.00 per hour and you must be flexible. Serious inquires only, please!
