Gotta Love Dog Training at Creekside Canine

Gotta Love Dog Training at Creekside Canine Dog Training for the Real World. Private, Affordable, Reliable Dog Training in Southeast Kentucky. I attended several training seminars to continue my education.

Using reward-based scientific approach to dog training, I use knowledge of animal behavior, canine body language, classical conditioning and other training techniques to tailor a behavior modification program specifically for your dog based on their breed, energy and lifestyles. In addition to have 10 years experience training my own dogs for the show ring (Obedience, Rally, Musical Freestyle, Con

firmation and most recently Trick Dog and Dock Diving), I have multiple degrees in Veterinary Health Science which involved taking several animal behavior, handling, health, anatomy and nutrition classes. I've have 3 years experience working with shelter and rescue dogs. I also had the privilege of working with wolves in a research internship (18 months) where I was able to work with some amazing creatures as well as study them for a research project where I looked into the trainability of wolves and wolf dog hybrids. I started training dogs part time when I was 16 years old. Through college I cultivated a nice side business that has developed to what it is now in the past 6 years. Today, it's a service I am happy to offer full time to anyone in the Southeast Kentucky/Cumberland Gap Region. If you have any questions fill free to get up with me!

My Story

Dog have always been apart of my life. I started training and showing dogs when I was in middle school and I never looked back. At one point I started volunteering at the Bell County Animal Shelter and I was shocked at the number of great dogs turned over due to "behavior problems" - problems such as chewing, jumping, barking, and hyper-activeness; Basically just dogs being dogs. Problems I, as a dog handler, understood and could aid in correcting. I wanted to help educate owners to understand their dogs and that their behavior weren’t necessarily 'problems'.

I was only 16 years old when I came up with this hair-brained scheme to start my own dog training service here in Southeastern Kentucky. I honestly had no clue what I was doing. I just knew that I’d always had a connection with dogs and I believed that, combined with my experience training my own dogs for the obedience ring was a decent foundation to build on. It started small, a few people took a chance on me and I would train their dogs after school when other kids my age would be at sports practice or pep rallies. One client turned into two, then four, then six and soon word of mouth spread about my dog training.

Over the next few I have trained a lot of dogs, learning as I went – self-taught from books, extensive online research and a few training clinics here and there. I trained dogs through high school. I started college and in the haze of juggling exams and credit hours, I still managed to wiggle in at least one client in a semester. For me each dog I trained was a challenge, puzzle that I solved. It always helped that I felt I was doing good and that I was helping others bond with their dogs better. But I didn’t really know where I was going with training thing. It was a little bit of cash in my pocket, fun to do - a hobby more than anything, really. Right?

What am I doing here today, six years later? It started with a wolf, um, a wolf-dog I should say.
