Peanut's Place Cat Sanctuary

Peanut's Place is located near Pipestone, Minnesota at a private residence.

Peanut's Place was privately started in December of 2003 in memory of a small golden kitten with a big personality who was rescued from an "extermination" operation, only to die several months later under anesthesia while being neutered. Peanut's Place is a non-traditional cage free sanctuary that seeks to provide love, comfort, and care to the cats who call us home. As of May 1 2017 Peanut's Plac

e has become a CLOSED Sanctuary for the cats who will live out their lives here until it is time for them to make their own journey across the Rainbow Bridge.

Tonight their activity is restricted ~ (ha ha!) (they can tear it up in the little apartment theyre in right now) just as much as having free run of the whole Buffalo Barn!

Tomorrow is a very big Day ~

The kittens will be 3 months old and to celebrate their birthday they will all be neutered.

It's a nervous day for me, too ~ recalling the origination story of Peanut's Place....

In July of 2003 I rescued 3 little brothers from an extermination project on a nearby farm. The kittens were about 2 months old at the time. A few months later in late September I took all 3 in to be neutered and left for my job in Luverne, 30 miles away. At around 11 in the morning I got a call from the vet clinic telling me that Peanut had died. I was heartbroken.

All 3 boys had been put under anesthesia at the same time. Peanut was the last in line to be fixed. When they got to him after his brothers were done, he was dead. He'd had a reation to the medication. :(

Although I'd been carrying the Plan for our cat rescue for a while, I knew at that moment that it needed to be called "Peanut's Place" in his honor and for our cornerstone mission ~ to spay and neuter every cat/kitten that passed through our doors.

It has been 21 years.
