🌟 Prince Update! 🌟
Crown Prince Squash—better known as Prince—has had quite the week! 👑 We’ve been hard at work on potty training, and while he’s definitely a little stubborn, this royal pup is making progress (slow and steady wins the race, right?).
Prince has also been enjoying some fun-filled playtime with his foster siblings—turns out he’s a natural at making friends. 🐾 Next week, he’ll visit the vet for a follow-up, and we’re crossing all our paws and fingers for some good news to share with you in the next update! 🙏

Maybelline
Age: Now 12 Months
Breed: German Shepard Mix (Possibly part English Bull Terrier)
Size: Medium (27lbs)
Maybelline came to us through the most unfortunate of circumstances and may be one of the worst abuse cases we've ever seen. She was confiscated from her owners with multiple broken ribs, a broken femur, a broken jaw, and a broken back. She also was diagnosed with brain injuries and was left completely blind due to her injuries. She was lethargic and in extremely bad shape. Luckily, with the amazing care of Antioch Animal Services and the East Bay VCA, she was able to make huge strides towards recovery. They reached out several months ago and asked us to take her into our Rescue and give her time to heal.
When an animal goes through what Maybelline has been through they are typically very scared and shy animals. That is NOT Maybelline. This strong and resilient girl is as happy as can be. She is constantly wearing a big bright smile and wagging her big bushy tail. She LOVES people and loves belly scratches even more. She is the sweetest girl in the world. Because of her blindness and brain injuries she does have a hard time getting around. Maybelline tends to wobble when she walks due to her spinal injury and often loses her footing resulting in her falling over. We have found that she does really well with boots on her back feet.
Maybelline is good with dog saavy cats (mostly because she can't see them). She is very friendly with other dogs. She would not do well around super small fragile dogs because she could accidentally step on them. She also should be watched around super small children for the same reason so as not to accidentally knock them over. She loves to chew on toys and bones and absolutely loves to play. Potty training has been a big challenge because of her obvious cognitive and physical challenges. But she has done so well recently as long as she has access to the yard she will take herself out 8/10 times. She does wear diapers at nigh
🌟 Meet Lux! 🌟
This adorable 2-year-old Chihuahua mix is ready to steal your heart! At just 12 lbs, Lux is full of personality – sweet, playful, and full of energy. He loves squeaky toys, and his daily routine includes collecting them, racing around, and making sure they’re comfy in his bed! 🐾💥 When he’s not playing, he’s the ultimate snuggle bug, always up for a cuddle with his humans. 💕
Lux is housebroken, great on leash, and gets along well with other dogs (he has playmates galore!). He’s even respectful of dog-savvy cats. His favorite thing? A warm spot of sun to lounge in – but he’ll happily wait for a blanket to make it extra cozy! 🌞
Though he has some nerve damage in his front paw, it doesn’t slow him down one bit! 💪 And when it comes to workdays, Lux is the perfect co-worker, greeting every person and dog who walks through the door. 👋

Macaron loves to howl at the moon, stealing treats, and long ear scratches. He's learning basic commands, and is very good motivated. A trainer is recommended to overcome his shyness with men. Macaron is also working on his prey drive, and being brave during thunderstorms.
Macaron is a social butterfly who would be great with kids 5+ and other dogs.
