***** Update on Joan *****
Dear Friends,
Mom fell on her hip in April. The following weeks, pain in both hips and legs progressively increased. Her quality of life rapidly deteriorated and she transitioned from a robust life of cooking and walks to totally immobilized and bed ridden.
A week ago she became confused and not very responsive and was admitted to the hospital. After many scans and tests, our worst fears were realized: her cancer had metastasized to her bones and brain.
On Saturday, we brought her home to Hospice care.
It’s incredibly challenging to reconcile the woman she was to the shell of a woman she has become, in just three months. Even harder to wrap our brains around the diagnosis.
Though she has been able to softly communicate with us verbally, her pain naturally has increased, which means higher medication dosages and less time where she’s awake and lucid.
She is no longer able to see clearly or write/type so we are posting on her behalf to let you know how much your friendships have meant to her over the years. Some of you she knows in real life, others of you have been virtual, all of you have been special in her heart.
Our only need now is for Mom to finally know Peace and an end to the pain. 🙏❤️
