#motivationalmonday with Frankie the Frenchie! 🐾 Frankie and his boy were playing the other day, and when his boy ran out the door, so did Frankie. He ended up running out into the middle of the street! 😳 Thankfully a Good Samaritan was driving the oncoming car and stopped for Frankie. Phew! Luckily Frankie and his family already had a lesson scheduled with us for the next day, so we worked hard to make sure that Frankie had a solid understand of threshold manners—meaning when he is and is not allowed outside (even when the door is open). We are so proud of this whole family! Way to go guys!

The pups loved their visit to @petwantssouthhills! Zeus enjoyed his pig ear and Sarafina enjoyed her sardine! Did you know that chews are not only great for mental stimulation but there are many health benefits as well! This all natural cow ear with hair may look gross to you but it has many benefits for your dog! -Cleans teeth and digestive system allowing more nutrients to be absorbed -Brushes away worms and eggs in the digestive tract acting as a natural parasite prevention (not a replacement for preventative medicine)

Littermate Syndrome…. 🐕 Bear and Tango are littermates who started fighting with each other in the home. 🐾 I never recommend getting littermates. Ever. Please do your research and look up “littermate syndrome,” and know the extra time, effort, and patience, and hard work it takes. 🐾 That being said, this owner came to us committed to provide a safe environment for both Bear and Tango. She put in the work and I couldn’t be more proud! 💪🏻 No more fighting, no more reactivity. They are able to coexist, even in situations they couldn’t handle separately just a few months ago. 🙌 For those of you with littermates: it’s tough, but it’s not impossible. Mochi the Doodle and Coco the Mutt getting in some good playtime! 🐾 Mochi and Coco are both high-energy dogs, and both of these dogs have a similar play style. Do you notice how the dogs are “in sync” with one another? They play-bow, play tag, and even get a little rough-and-tumble for a second. #motivationalmonday from Zeus and Nunny! 🐾 Can you tell which dog is more food motivated? 😂 Dogs (just like people, chimps, dolphins, elephants, cats, and other mammals) have basic biological needs that need to be met, but what drives each of them individually varies based on past experiences, genetics, and their present state of mind. 🧐 For example, Zeus is a working line GSD, and Nunny is a mix. Zeus is more motivated by working with his people (notice the eye contact), while Nuni is more motivated by the resource (laser focus on the food). 🐾 Now, Zeus’ eye contact and Nunny’s laser focus can also be explained by the what has been taught to them. Zeus has been taught that eye contact is how he gets the things he wants (remember the name game?), while Nun has been taught that she needs to lay down and wait for the release to get what she wants. Both dogs are right—because both dogs were taught differently. ✨ Lastly, Nunny could just be hungrier than Zeus. Maybe Zeus has had multiple training sessions and a chew today, while Nun might have just come back from a long hike and didn’t eat her breakfast. Nun’s current state of mind might just be “hungry.” 🐾 It’s important to keep these factors in mind, as they play an important role in training. #MotivationalMonday with Emmy the dog-reactive Border Collie Mix 🐾 Emmy’s mom signed up for training because she was afraid to walk Emmy anywhere there might be a dog present. If you had told her that Emmy was capable of walking in between two dogs, I doubt she would have believed you. 👀 A few lessons in, and Emmy as well as her people have come so far! Little Nugget Herman the Lab Puppy earning his lunch! 🤩 Can we talk about how happy and eager to train this little dude is?? 💕 Herman earns his meals through short, sweet ~10min training sessions. 🐾 In this video, Herm is building upon his markers/rewards knowledge, he’s learning the meaning of “break,” we’re building on the foundations of learning his name, ANNNDDD on top of that, he’s learning a new concept, “Down.” ✨ It might sound like a lot, but we broke these steps down into small concepts in previous training sessions.
