The spread of the avian flu has emphasized the importance of carefully sourcing where our pets’ food comes from, especially if we feed our pets a raw food diet. Feeding your pet brands that source human-grade meats for their products ensures that flocks/herds have been tested and aren’t contaminated before going into the food chain.

With any illness, it’s important to know the warning signs to look for. If your pet shows the symptoms of a fever, lethargy, cough, runny nose, red eyes, lack of appetite, or nasal or eye discharge, see your veterinarian immediately.

❄️ Hitting Winter Goals with Your Dog: Stay On Track Despite the Chill! ❄️

Don’t let winter weather freeze your progress! Keep your dog’s training on point while enjoying quality time together. Here's how to hit those goals this season:

🌟 Training Tips for Cold Weather:

1. Keep Sessions Short & Sweet:
Cold temps can shorten your dog's attention span. Aim for 5-10 minute bursts of training fun outside, then warm up indoors.

2. Indoors is Your Friend:
Practice sit, down, and place commands in hallways or living rooms. Use household distractions for proofing commands.

3. Gear Up for the Weather:
Invest in a quality coat and booties for your dog if needed. Keeping paws protected prevents slips and discomfort.

4. Mental Exercise Counts Too:
Scent work games, puzzle toys, and obedience drills burn energy when outdoor play isn't an option.

5. Stay Visible:
With shorter days, use reflective collars and leashes for early morning or evening walks.

Stay motivated, stay consistent, and keep training fun—even when it’s frosty! Your dog will thank you with better behavior.

Jess, owner of Dunn Right Dog Training LLC, will be attending Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in just a few short weeks!

Attending the Westminster Dog Show is considered a huge deal because it's the most prestigious dog show in the world. It is essentially the pinnacle event for dog enthusiasts and offers a unique opportunity to see top-tier canine competition on a national stage at Madison Square Garden; it's like the "Super Bowl" of dog shows, with millions watching on television.

This year her and her dog “SlushE” are attending the inauguration flyball tournament at the show!
Flyball is an adrenaline-fueled dog sport that involves teams of dogs and their handlers competing against each other to complete a relay race. The race includes many behaviors like retrieving a ball, jumping, recalling …ect.

Please check the comments for a video of flyball, and miss SlushE doing her thing!

Cold temps are coming! Here are some tips for your pets:

•watch for signs of cold distress (shivering, licking, paw lifting).

•limit outdoor time: keep walks short and avoid prolonged exposure to the cold.

•layer up: small or shorthaired pets may benefit from a warm coat or sweater when going out.

• provide a warm space: ensure your pet has a warm draft free area to rest indoors.

• protect their paws: ice and salt can be tough on paws. Wipe paws after walks.

Updates for 2025🗓️

-New paperwork, updated rabies certificate, and vaccination records due at your first booking in 2025. If you need new forms please text us the email you would like them sent to.

-Effective June 1st, we will no longer accept soresto collars as a flea/tick preventative. This decision has been in consideration for months. Unfortunately there has been too many reports to the manufacture and veterinarians that parasites are now resistant to them. If you need help picking a new prevention please consult your veterinarian. As a reminder, prevention is required for all daycamp, boarding, and board & train attendees.

-Leptospirosis vaccine is now being considered a core vaccine for all dogs, and now is a requirement for all client dogs attending programs. The vaccinations we require are:
Rabies, Distemper, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, and Canine Hepatitis. We also highly recommend the Bordatella vaccine.

-Boarding/ Board & Train dates for 2025 are filling up quickly. If you have a vacation or trip planned and intend to book, please reach out as soon as possible to ensure your booking.

Meet “KeKe”, a young Borboel is here for our board and train program.

If you’re not familiar with the Borboel, they are a South African Mastiff. This Breed is not for the faint of heart, or the average person. They require an experienced owner. This breed is very impressive…they are large, powerful, dominant, and have strong protective instincts. Unfortunately, this breed has gained popularity at an alarming rate in the pet world over the last year. Luckily for Keke, she has a dedicated owner who did his research on the breed before owning one. This breed requires a lot of training, which can be difficult because they are stubborn and powerful. Additionally, this breed needs dedication and lots of socialization, exercise, knowledge..ect

You cannot keep this breed cooped up in your house all day.

Many are not prepared when they get a breed like this. PLEASE research the breed of dog you are thinking about getting! If you need help I am always available to assist you in your research.
