Calling all PAW Patrol fans! 🐾

We’re thrilled to announce that PAW Patrol Live! “A Mighty Adventure” is stopping by our East Side Shelter on Tuesday, January 14! 🚨

Here’s what’s happening:
🐶 The tour’s cast will be making enrichment toys for our adoptable dogs and cats and touring our facility in the morning.
📸 Families visiting our shelter can meet Skye for a special photo op from noon to 12:30 pm—the perfect chance to snap a pic with your favorite pup hero!

Did you know our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh uses Cheerios to care for squirrels of all ages? Right now, we’re overwintering 40 squirrels, and these little ones are munching their way through our supply.

We go through about 130 pounds of Cheerios every year—and we need your help to keep their tiny bellies full!

Please consider grabbing an extra box (or two!) of plain Cheerios to donate. Every handful helps us care for these incredible creatures. This Black Rat Snake came into our care after being tangled in chicken wire, suffering from a concussion, skin wounds, and inflammation. Thanks to a concerned community member, the snake was quickly brought in for treatment.

After receiving care for concussion, dehydration, and a bacterial infection, the snake made a full recovery. However, it's still too cold for release, so the snake will stay with us at HARP's Wildlife Center until spring.

Black Rat Snakes play a vital role in the ecosystem by controlling pest populations. Despite common misconceptions, they pose no threat to humans or pets—they’re more afraid of us than we are of them!

🎉 From Foster Fail to Forever Success! 🐾

Spindle, the brindle-colored tripod wonder pup, had quite the journey before finding his perfect home. After a tough start—roaming solo in a state park, a leg amputation, and even a few shelter stays—Spindle’s luck finally turned around in foster care.

What started as a foster placement turned into the best kind of “foster fail”—an adoption success! ❤️

“Spinny fit into our lives perfectly…he loves to walk, run, visit with kids in the neighborhood, learn new commands, and cuddle on the couch,” shares his adopter. “The best part of having Spindle home for good is how much joy he brings us…we couldn’t imagine life without our Spinny boy and we are so grateful that HARP made the fostering and adopting process easy and enjoyable!”
