Not sure what photo will grab your attention and let you know we mean business when we say we are in need of funds, but we’re going to go with this shot of Meredith for now!

Friends, we had Tomato at the vet today for a re-check on his belly.

We had Rocky at the vet today for a re-check on his eyes, accompanied by bloodwork for possible Diabetes.

We had a catten named Bingo neutered today, only to produce vile diarrhea while at the clinic, adding an additional cost of a f***l exam.

We had 2 kitties abandoned in this cold by their former owner in Mt. Washington spayed and neutered today.

We had 2 ferals spayed and neutered yesterday.

We are dangerously close to draining our bank account.

Since we’ve shown off mom and a few of her boyfriends, we thought we would share her last litter with you.

Since they were saved from the mountain that is Mt. Washington, we decided to name them after some mountains.

Meet Everest, Fuji, Shasta and Denali!

Everest clearly did not get her looks from mom. 🤣But we know where they came from! We have seen a male Siamese lurking in the area, and he is on our radar to trap!

Everest is being fostered with a small dog and a semi-feral cat, whom she ADORES! If she gets adopted outside of this foster home, we will be very surprised. 🤣

Fuji is a sweet boi who has come to like all the people and all the cats!

Shasta is still a little people shy, but she loves snuggling with her foster brother Sampson so much. We know she will do so well with any confident adult kitty who likes to to play!

Denali is our miracle baby. Hahah He was trapped 2 long weeks after his siblings, and we thought we were in for a terror! But it couldn’t be more opposite!

Denali took well to people instantly, and he absolutely adores (and looks up to) his foster brother, Dash!

All of these kiddos would be feral by now, had we given up and let the unhelpful neighbor continue to pretend to care about these cats by only feeding them, while providing 0 medical care.

These came to us with Coccidia. It was an expensive and messy start, but they are all doing wonderfully now!

Some photos of mom’s boyfriends.

Tomato, Fluffernutter and Sonny

Tomato is the only friendly one thus far, but has a terrible case of Giardia.

He has had diarrhea for almost 2 weeks, despite proper medical treatment.

He is going back to the vet tomorrow for a further work up.

Fluffernutter is being neutered today. We are hopeful he is overall healthy and okay to release when the weather chills out.

Sonny unfortunately tested positive for FIV. While that is not a death sentence, it is not ideal for an FIV cat to be outside year round, but we may have no choice but to release. He is not enjoying the indoor life.

Again, the costs that go into these cats never really makes its way back to us - at least not in the form of an adoption fee. So we are asking for your help today!

Meet Mom.

Mom has given birth to multiple litters over the last 3 years. We have trapped many of her litters, but she was never hungry enough to go into one of our traps. This lack of hunger is due to the neighbor who refuses to stop feeding while we trap.

Due to this added obstacle, it took us 7 whole weeks of daily trapping to secure her. Those are 7 weeks of sleep that we don’t get back, but she will never endure another pregnancy again. And that’s what’s important.

Not only did we trap her, but we were able to secure her whole last litter, and 3 of her boyfriends.

Traps are still being set for the remaining cats on this street, who will likely continue to be a challenge. (Thanks again to the feeder who will not cooperate. Can you imagine being so miserable that you try to hinder the good guys?)

Anyway! These spays and neuters are money that we won’t see again.

We have easily spent over $1000 on this trapping project.

Happy New Year!

The last time we posted, we were panicking about Rocky’s eyeball, and we had rushed him to the vet.

After having an eye stain done and having his eye pressures checked, we found out that poor Rocky has glaucoma in both of his eyes and an ulcer in his left eye!

The glaucoma explains why his eyes are constantly weeping. The ulcer tells us why his eye looked the way it did on Tuesday.

The cause of the glaucoma and ulcer is still unknown. 😔

Due to Rocky having FIV, his immune system is weakened. His ulcer could simply be from him rubbing at his painful glaucoma eyes, or it could be from Feline herpesvirus (FHV) which can cause inflammation and ulcers on the cornea - the clear surface of the eye. 

Because we don’t have definite answers to this, we did some (expensive) bloodwork to find out more.

He will be going for a re-check of his eye pressures to see if there has been any improvement in a couple of weeks. (As you can see in this video, he is already looking a lot better today than he did 2 days ago!)

In the mean time, Rocky has been started on 4 new eye medications, and he is back in the cone of shame for the time being.

We’re so lucky he’s the absolute sweetest boy and does so well being medicated.

In the last month, we have spent over $200 on Rocky’s meds alone.

Okay, so Rocky has taken “going out with a bang” to another level!

We were foolish to think we were just going to slide on into 2025 gracefully!

Rocky has been on multiple eye medications since we brought him in a couple of months ago.

None of them seem to be doing the trick, and last night, his foster came home to this. 😔

He is on his way to an emergency vet this morning, and our bank account is NOT prepared for that.

Is it too late to post a kitten laying on Christmas pajamas?

Meet Denali - the last kitten of our most recent Mt. Washington trapping project that’s being derailed by a neighbor who refuses to assist us, and continues to sabotage by leaving out mounds and mounds of food for cats and other critters. (This keeps the cats’ bellies full, and not giving them any reason to walk into a baited trap.)

Thankfully this guy gave in to the trap, and IMMEDIATELY took to his foster momma.

Somehow, despite being trapped at a little over 3 months old, he is the easiest 3 month old kitten we’ve ever had the pleasure of handling fresh off the streets.

Anyway, thought we would share that good news while these cute pajamas were still somewhat relevant! (You can snag yourself a pair at Walmart of all places! 😹)

We are an extremely small rescue, but days like yesterday make us feel so big. 🥺

Pictured here is Eden, Princess Peach, Luigi, Mario and a human named Jim.

After 5 months in our care, Jim excitedly swooped in to adopt 3 of the four - leaving Mario with his foster parents who had already claimed him months ago due to his special ability to win over their resident cat, Hallie (the orange one)!

In one day, this whole little family became official in their furevers! 🏡

We love our crazy cat moms and dads out there! And we especially love that they find us!

Last night was hard. Looking at photos today is harder.

This is Nacho - the luckiest FELV+ kitten to ever come into rescue.

He had the unconditional love of two kiddos, and the love of a dog. What more could you ask for?

Nacho and his siblings came to us from Knoxville this past summer, and were the happiest and healthiest little bunch.

It wasn’t until their spays and neuters that we found out they had FELV, and we have been on high alert ever since.

Sadly, Nacho lost his very brief battle with FELV last night. He became lethargic, and no longer wanted to play with his siblings. We did the kindest thing and sent him on his way over the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈

Take a little journey through Nacho’s short little life through these photos, and let them warm your heart. This boy was SO loved. ❤️ You can feel the love just by looking at them.

With his euthanasia happening late last night, we unfortunately had to pay the ER vet to do it, which was over $400 - a cost we didn’t anticipate this month.

This evening, we released the final mama cat back to the Mt. Washington colony. We named her Scooter because she almost scooted out of that trap last weekend. Scooter and her friends used to have a regular feeder. That feeder moved away, and the neighbors are now being selective about which cats they will feed and which cats they won’t. It is extremely disheartening to hear that one or two are more important than the rest. How can you help? There is one family willing to feed since the cats come to their back yard, but they don’t have the funds to keep up with the feeding of 8 cats. Would any of our followers be willing to donate monthly to keep these kitties fed? We would likely be looking at one or 2 large bags of food per month. Maybe around $60 worth? If you’d be interested in making a regular donation to the Mt. Washington colony, please reach out. These cats are going to be lost without a feeder. 🙏🏻 Thank you!

So, what was once 20 cats at the Mt. Washington colony, is now 25. This pretty girl comes from a family of 4, and there’s one long lost male who made his way back after a few months of… hunting. 🙃 This means more money needed. More fosters needed. We have personally taken on 10 of the 20 trapped last week, and it’s looking like we’re going to need a place to shove this girl and her 2 siblings, while also getting mom vetted.
