[UPDATE] (Watch video with sound on) We've named this sweet kitty Lego! We thought you'd enjoy hearing the voicemail we received from the vet who cared for her the morning after surgery ♥️ Lego is being cared for by one of our fosters who is a vet tech at South Side Flats Animal Hospital. They were able to do her initial bloodwork and x-rays so that when Paw Prints Veterinary Center in West Virginia confirmed they could squeeze her in for surgery on Saturday she was all set to go! She's home now and on crate rest. Her leg had to be amputated to the shoulder, since without a healthy paw pad to walk on, leaving any of the leg remaining ran a high chance of her injuring it by attempting to support weight on it. Fortunately cats adjust amazingly well after amputations and Lego is already walking around with a good degree of confidence. Thank you to all who sent in donations and offered words of support and encouragement. We don't know how someone let this happen to her and could let her go so long without care. The vet believes her paw had been in such a state for at least several weeks to be in the condition it was. We're shocked she didn't get an infection or at least didn't succumb to one... And that she remains so affectionate and trusting despite the horrible pain she must have experienced 😞 Once she has recovered from the amputation, Lego will be spayed and will be available for adoption once fully healthy and vetted. [REQUESTING DONATIONS] Milo was found by a family and last week, and when he was taken for neuter surgery the vets recognized he had significant injuries. The vets recommended euthanizing him due to the extent of his injuries... But he had been eating and using the litter box during that week so when our rescue was contacted to help we decided we'd seek care for his injuries and give him his best chance to survive this ♥️ We were at Rivers Veterinary Urgent Care to get more x-rays while we wait for callbacks from several veterinary surgeons we've reached out to about Milo's case. Meet our new "whale" family 😻 Bryde and her children Sei, Orca, Minke, Beluga, and Narwhal were rescued in Natrona Heights after the kittens tumbled out of a lawnmower 🙀 Kitten season is in full swing! If you find a kitten playing around your property, please fight the instinct to scoop them up without their mother - unless of course they are injured and need immediate medical care. Kittens need to stay with mom and their littermates until they're 12 weeks old to have the best health outcomes and social development. It took us 3 days to gather this entire litter of kittens and lure mom into a trap. We've raised $1.4k of the $2.8k cost of Lefty's femur surgery ♥️ We're so grateful to everyone who has been sending love his way and helping us reach out goal 😻 Surgery day is tomorrow! And then he'll have 6-8 weeks of recovery as the bone heals. It won't be easy but we'll be there loving on him the whole way through 🥰 You'll notice his tail was shaved. He had a gash running along the length of his tail when we found him. At first we suspected he had been caught in a fence, but the vet thinks it would have likely taken the force of a car impact to break his femur in that way. Maybe it was both. No more adventuring outside for this little lad, that's for sure! And last night, Lefty finally pooped! 💩 His X-rays showed he should have no trouble with bladder or bowel function, but he hadn't pooped since he's been back and we were getting worried. Our boy has an ulcer on his eye that we hope can be healed 🤞 He's emaciated, anemic, congested, covered in mites and possibly fleas and lice, and just overall crusty 😹 But his wounds aren't as bad as we feared! He's missing a chunk from his lip but it's already healed. The vet thinks it could be from the rats he was eating in the alley he was found in. He's estimated to be around 3 to 4 years old and he's unneutered and not chipped. He was scared but calm during his visit 🥰 He's on antibiotics and eye treatments and he'll get rechecked in a week to make sure he's making progress! His liver enzymes were a little elevated but it could be due to his emaciation so we'll recheck bloodwork in a month. Thanks for rooting for this guy! Part two of the MoMo & Pepper Saga 😹

Our foster's cat, MoMo, loves her little foster brother, Pepper! In her own way... 😹

We're going to try to save Two Two. You can help ♥️ After her health declined for the past month or two and her human spending everything they could to find out what was wrong, she was surrendered to us so that we could help end Two Two's suffering. After a day at Rivers Veterinary Urgent Care we learned that Two Two was dying from dry FIP, a rare mutation of feline coronavirus. FIP is fatal, but there is a drug that has been highly effective in curing it. Unfortunately, the patent holder of the drug in the US has not attempted to make it available for use in cats, so pet owners have turned to international markets to treat their dying cats 🥺 Now we are too... Two Two received her first injection last night, thanks to some amazing humans working with FIP Warriors® 5.0 who shared their supplies while we wait for our own to arrive! One of our adopted kittens, Pepper Ann, went through this treatment after her own case of wet FIP several months ago 🥹 We hope that Two Two will be as fortunate 🤞 These injections continue for 85 days, and then she will be monitored closely for another 85 days to watch for signs of relapse. We estimate the cost of injections will be $1,500 ($17-$18/day) but that may go up as she gains weight and needs her dosage adjusted. We'll also be checking in with the vet every few weeks to make sure she's improving and getting everything she needs ♥️ We do have to pay for the medications out of pocket, so direct donations will be extremely useful!
