It's still very hot out. Keep your pets safe by keeping them indoors in this weather 🌞🔥🥵

⚠️ Weather alert for this week ⚠️

Please do not take your pets for walks or leave them outside for long periods of time this week as it is suppose to be incredibly hot and humid.

Dogs body temperatures are already high at 100-102.5 degrees normally.

Heat stroke can occur very quickly and is a medical emergency. Make sure your pets have plenty of water and a cool place inside to lay.

The asphalt and concrete can burn dogs paw pads. If it is too hot for a human to walk barefoot, then it's too hot for pets feet too 🥵🥵🌞🔥

Sometimes our doctors and team members wake up at 3 am thinking about your pet. There is no extra charge for this. 🐾❤️‍🩹

Being in the veterinary profession is physically and emotionally demanding, leading to high rates of depression, compassion fatigue/burnout, and anxiety. During always be kind to your veterinary team and thank them for what they do. Chances are, they've cared for and thought about your pet more often than you can imagine. 🐾

We celebrate the success of our graduating student, Anne, who has been an integral part of our team and has now been accepted to veterinary school. We applaud her achievements and look forward to her future contributions in the field of veterinary medicine.

Hello! My name is Anne and I have been shadowing at the Shadyside location since last summer. I just graduated from the University of Pittsburgh this spring with a major in Psychology and a minor in Chemistry. I decided that I wanted to become a veterinarian during my sophomore year after I began missing my pets back at home and started getting experience working with animals at the local shelter. I fell in love with the idea of being able to work with both animals and people as well as being able to practice all types of medicine such as general medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, and much more. I recently just got accepted into veterinary school at the University of Illinois and am so excited to go this fall! I am very thankful for everything team Shadyside has taught me and am super happy to start working for them this summer!

Dr. Resek accepts all applications for cuddles during lunch time.

When your pet is uncomfortable we make every attempt to make them more comfortable. So, if they need extra snuggles we are right on the floor with them.

We will be closed Sunday, May 7th due to road restrictions around our hospital for the 2023 Pittsburgh Marathon. We will be open Saturday May, 6th. Best of luck to all the participants running this weekend.
