We only use positive reinforcement rewards based training methods. We can help with Basic Cues, Leash Manners, Recall Basics, Jumping (Four on the Floor), Focus and Attention, Therapy Dog Prep, Confidence Boosting
for Shy/Fearful Dogs, Scent Work for Fun, and Mental Exercise to fulfill your dog's needs.
Based on Service Area we also provide In-Home Pet Care Services which are visits to help you take care of your pets when you aren’t home. Service Area: For In-Home Services we travel up to a 20 minute drive from our Training Space near Montour High School in Robinson Township, PA. If you are out of our In Home Service Area you can still utilize virtual options or you can Train with us In Person at our Training Space.

Recently my Volunteer Friend assisted my Single Session Enrichment for the Holidays and even though that session was geared towards dogs, Sandy knew her cat Sassy would love some of the activities too 😻

I was invited to stop by a local adoption event and meet some of the Volunteer Team and meet some Fosters and their foster dogs. I gave an impromptu leash walking demo and talked about body language. It was a nice afternoon with good people and dogs. All the dogs pictured are available for adoption

Holiday Stuffable Toy Recipes!
Check out these seasonal treats you can stuff into a Kong or Toppl or something similar.
Tips:
Don’t forget to plug the hole before filling Kongs or other stuffable toy
Use an appropriate size and appropriate durability toy for your dog
Use a coffee mug to hold the item upright while filling and it can all be placed in a freezer if you choose to freeze the treat before giving it to your dog!
Holiday Gingerbread Smoothie🥤
Plain Greek yogurt
Ginger powder
Ground cinnamon
Ground cloves
Apple Pie Parfait🍏🥧
Fill the Kong with a small amount of plain greek yogurt
Add a few slices of banana, then some applesauce, and more yogurt
End with a slice of banana
Pumpkin Ice Cream 🎃🍨
Combine some plain greek yogurt and canned pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling)
Mix well and fill your dog’s Kong
This one is best frozen!

Dogs are not robots 🤖
They need to be taught through consistency and then given the time to think about what they are being asked 💭
Think about it: they are meeting our requests without referring to a To Do List or written instructions 📃
Keep that in mind when it takes your dog a moment to perform your asked request.
🤔 Could you do everything asked of you if you never were taught, never practiced, and never had something to refer to if you needed a refresher?

A field trip for Mina today! We worked on focus on handler when in new and exciting places. At only 18 months old and being very social, this is no easy task. We are using Pattern Games and learning our Leash Manners to help make our goals a reality. Slow but steady. She's a smart pup!
Choice:
I saw something on social from a trainer talking about giving your dog more choice in their life. She suggested one way to do that: allow your dog to pick which harness they want to wear or which collar.
I thought that was brilliant and am kicking myself that my social refreshed and the post disappeared before I could save it.
I am glad I at least remembered this idea and decided to try it with my dog Rick since he doesn't have an association with his harnesses (working vs walking vs neighborhood walk vs field trip).
Results: Rick loves any harness 😂

My creative friend and Shelter Enrichment Mentor shared this idea and I just love it so I had to make a Spider Web Hula Hoop too ! 🕸️
I cut a T-Shirt into strips and then tied them, as best as I could, into concentric circles. I added a spider made from a cardboard tube and now it's time for some Halloween Hunting! 🕷️

This sweet girl is ready to learn some companion manners. New student Cuya is a lot of fun and smart in a pocket pittie size. Her guardians will be coached on how to teach their sweet pup to be the best companion she can be. Let our Training Journey begin!
This morning Sophie and her family had an Initial Consultation for Pet Care Visits. I ask questions, the humans ask questions, and most importantly Sophie lets us know if she would like visits from Lisa Bartel Dog Training. After our consultation I email my notes and observations and the family will then let me know their decision.

When two of your current students live near each other and both needed a dog friend for different reasons so you set up a meet and greet and they hit it off!! This was fun and fulfilling for everyone!

🦺Here are some Safety tips for kids around dogs AND some safety tips for pet guardians.
Keep in mind that not all dogs like or want to be dressed up. Maybe consider a themed collar or leash instead. ⭕ 🎃 ( has your custom collar needs covered!)

🎃 Pumpkins provide health benefits for your dog and can be a fun dissecting and shredding activity!
🚨 Make sure if you offer your dog a pumpkin it isn't painted or treated with anything making its shell shiny.
👀 For safety sake actively supervise your dog while he has the pumpkin.
🏡 Also I'd recommend this as an outside activity for less cleanup.

A short video showing why a lot of trainers prefer a treat pouch 👝 or pockets 🦘 to zip topped baggies especially in group classes. My dog Rick was waiting for my husband to take him outside while I was getting treats ready for upcoming sessions. Outside was put on hold when Rick heard the opening ZIP and Rick had to see what may be in that baggie. 🧐 Major distraction.
