Every time you wash the litter box you should inspect it for signs of scratches or wear.

Please do not use liners. There’s no substitute for sanitary - and considerate- litter box practices:

1. Clumping, unscented litter in an extra large to jumbo open top litter box.

2. Two boxes per first cat, plus 1 more box for each additional cat. In multi cat homes have litter boxes in two or three locations.

3. Scoop twice daily. Dump, sanitise, rinse, dry and refill with fresh litter up to 3 inches weekly. Do not top up boxes. You can combine 2 boxes. and bring out a fresh one if litter level gets too low.

Don't use liners in the litter box. Shortcuts are never a good idea when it comes to keeping the litter box clean.

🎂Celebrate Pauline’s 10th Birthday with us!

Her Meowma shares Pauline’s activities that keep her young and happy:
She walks every single day and loves her routine.
She is very social and she is happiest when she is with the whole family.
She has a little vocabulary of words and expressions that she definitely understands. I can say “Let’s go home.” and she will consistently end her walk and come inside. Of course unless her favorite chipmunk 🐿️ is out… 😸

Happily Pauline’s family finds her wonderfully hypoallergenic and she sleeps and cuddles with them allergy free❤️

# 5 is helpful to know: cats only sweat through their paws.

This is especially important in these extreme Summer temperatures. With so few sweat glands, once overheated it’s hard for your Siberian to cool down.

If your Siberian does become overwhelmed by heat, give them a cool
bath, being sure to soak through all layers of their thick coat right to the skin.

How to assess depression in your Siberian cat:

Are they:

- staring into space?
- excessively sleeping,
- aimlessly wandering?
- meowing constantly?

- increasing environmental enrichment
- considering adopting a kitten (depending on the temperament & age of your cat).
- increasing interactive play

Protect your Siberian cat from injury and fear during firework season:

1. Add Feliway pheremone plug ins in several rooms.

2. Close windows and pull drapes to muffle sound.

3. Turn on ac and ceiling fans for comfort and white noise. If your hvac has a whole house fan setting, turn it on and leave it on.

4. Consider playing quiet, calming music. Sone dtudies have found harp, country, amd classical music to be calming for animals.

5. Increase interactive play sessions to release stress and promote relaxation.

Happy Easter from All of Us & ForestWind Mila! Mila’s Meowma created a clever and cat safe Easter egg hunt! Using dried fish and chicken, she stuffed and hid eggs for Mila to find. As you can see it was wonderfully successful 🐣 Great idea, Sarah Swarthout !

Happy Sunday! We’re about to take down our tree, and were delighted to note that - as usual - we haven’t had any breakage. This year only one ornament had to be rehung. How does ForestWind Siberians successfully manage a Christmas tree? 1. Unbreakable ornaments (consider supergluing bulb tops on so they don’t release the ornament). 2. LED lights. 3. No tinsel or flocking spray. 4. Live, fresh tree, with no preservatives in stand water. 5. Close doors to prevent access when unable to supervise tree.

Nekko loves playing catch! Siberian cats are particularly attracted to natural fur, leather, and feather toys like the “Rosie Rat” Nekko is catching. Natural toys like Rosie are often tricky to find.
