PSA! With fireworks season coming up, now is a great time to talk to your vet about options for medication if your dog struggles with fireworks.

Also, more pets go missing July 4th-6th than any other year, according to animal control officials nation wide. Please make sure that your pets have updated microchips, are wearing updated tags with contact information, and keep an eye out for door dashing cats when coming in and out during fireworks. For dogs, consider leashed potty breaks even if your yard is fenced. The time it takes to leash them and walk with them is much less than time spent searching if they get scared and bolt.

I'm thrilled to announce the launch of our new initiative: the Pet Pantry!

At Steel City Craft Emporium, we understand the importance of keeping our furry friends happy and healthy. That's why we're starting a Pet Pantry to provide support to pet owners in need.

Our goal is simple: to ensure that no pet goes hungry or uncared for due to financial constraints. Whether it's providing pet food, toys, or essential supplies, we're here to lend a helping paw. We are designating a booth to the cause.

But we can't do it alone. We need your support! If you have any gently used pet items or unopened bags of pet food that you'd like to donate, please drop it off starting as soon as March 23rd. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference in the lives of pets and their families.

Let's work together to create a community where every pet has a loving home and the care they deserve. Spread the word, lend a hand, and let's make a positive impact together! 🐾💕

Bonded brothers looking for a new home! Milo and Ottis are so sweet. They come from a busy home and are friendly with strangers, kids, dogs, and other cats! These two love to play with each other. They have been fixed and are now looking for their forever home. They were rescued as kittens by one of my students’ families, and she would love to see them go to a home together as they are inseparable. If you know anyone looking to add to their family, please let me know and have them reach out to me.

As these holidays approach, friendly reminder that lilies are not safe to have in your home when you have a cat. Even if your cat “doesn’t bother plants,” it’s not just chewing on the plant that is an issue. Their pollen is quite messy, and can easily track and get on the cat’s fur, where they will groom it off.

Please, be cautious and careful with the plants you bring into your home!

Easter and Mother's Day are two of the most dangerous holidays for cats for one reason: lily poisoning. 💐

As a part of our No Lilies for Kitties educational campaign, we're kicking off the series by sharing which species of lilies are toxic to cats. True lilies (Lilium species) and daylilies (Hemerocallis species) are extremely toxic to cats and can potentially cause severe kidney failure. Against all odds, the stray pittie we posted about last week survived the drastic cold front and was caught today, safe and sound. Thank you to everyone who posted, shared, and kept an eye out. She is a trooper for sure! She’s in need of some TLC after such a tough 2 weeks in the cold. Shoutout to Alicia for her perseverance through all of this!

For anyone who would like to donate towards her recovery, she is with The Foster Farm and is in wonderful hands.

**UPDATE!!! With amazing perseverance from Alicia, she was found today, 1/21. She is alive and will be safe and sound. Thank you to EVERYONE who shared, posted, and called with sightings.**

We have a stray dog who is in dire need of our help. She was last spotted around 10:30 am on Fordham Ave near the dead end on 1/13. Folks on that side of Brookline, pay particular attention!

PLEASE keep an eye out on outdoor cameras or while out walking. It is imperative that we trap her before the cold front sets in over the weekend. This girl recently gave birth and at this time we are unsure if she has puppies in the area or was dumped after having them.

Keep an eye out and most importantly: DO NOT APPROACH OR CHASE! If she is sighted, report sightings with the location and time to the number listed. She is scared and in survival mode; a trap is our best bet at getting this girl out of the cold safely
