Are you interested in testing out some dog sports to see what might spark joy? Kitchen Sink class is all about getting a taste of a bunch of dog sports all at once!

You'll spend 2 weeks learning about Rally Obedience, 2 weeks of Scentwork, and 2 weeks of Agility.

Rally--You can expect to learn a bunch of rally signs on week 1 and do a mini rally course on week 2

Scentwork--you'll spend both weeks teaching your pup to find birch odor in containers

Agility--you'll spend both weeks learning some jump skills, some handling skills, safety skill basics (2 on 2 off contacts), and tunnel!

Prerequisites--Dogs must be able to work around other dogs who might be having fun without being reactive--a little vocalizing where they can get back to work is okay. Dogs should have successfully completed Elementary Manners and at least one other class.

The day has come for the beginning of Tena's big adventure! Straight racing, lure coursing, and dock diving events in Minnesota (plus some birthday adventures). Followed up by a therapy dog trip to NC to work with Strax.

She'll only be checking email sporadically due to where she's staying and will only be responding to time-sensitive emails from current students. She'll start getting back to everyone 7/29 when she returns.

Kelly, Coleman, and Katherine are at SJC holding down the fort and their classes are unaffected. If you are in need of a consult or lessons, they are happy to help you (unless your pup needs to be seen by Tena due to a significant bite history).

Remember, our website is very detailed on all sorts of topics/questions and all of our registrations happen through our website for group classes, private training, and initial consultations. So be sure to check that out if you have questions!

Tena will be doing some website updating and some back of house work on our scheduling program and more. While also emphasizing some good old fashioned unwinding in between dog sports.

Did you know that Tena's extended family are farmers in SD and she spent lots of time on their farm as a kind around cows, pigs, barn cats, and the scary turkey* (*she's since gotten over her fear of fowl)? She absolutely LOVES cows (and farm life in general) and hopes to have some run-ins with her bovine friends while visiting the area!

I'm really excited for this seminar next month. It's been a good number of years since we've had a big name in dog training come to Pittsburgh for a seminar and Kathy is just fabulous!

This seminar is one of the really unique ones where it has topics that can apply to pet parents, dog sport competitors, and pet professionals all at the same time.

I attended a 'talk' length version of this topic at Clicker Expo many years ago and remember walking away with some really great things to apply to my training and my instructing. Even as a professional i walked away with some good food for thought but it was so digestible that there were many pet parents in attendance that walked away with lots of great things.

There are still some auditing spots open, but registration closes soon!

Registration for Kathy Sdao's workshop on cues and communication with is going to be closing on Friday, July 25th!

Don't miss your chance to participate: Visit this link to register now: https://www.pittsburghpetprofessionals.com/eventsandseminars

Still need another reason to join us? For those of you who do dog sports: does your dog ever struggle to differentiate cues, perhaps doing a bow when you ask for a down as if they are 100% sure that's what you asked for? Join in and see how you can carefully pick cues that make it easier for your dog to distinguish exactly what you want from them, and have more success in the competition ring!

You MUST have permission from Katherine to sign up. Some dogs need multiple intro classes to be ready for sequence class.

This class covers the sequence skills of flyball. Recalls, dualing recalls, jumps, jump chutes, matwork, wall work, and box work skills. Each week we will have a topic and work dogs at whatever level they are for that skill. Working towards putting the full sequence together.

Occasionally dogs will be crated inside or /confined in car to take turns working on solo skills.

Dogs of all ages can join in on the fun that is trick training--Puppies through seniors can have fun with tricks! This is specifically a Novice level class--we often do a novice/intermediate, but this time around we are focusing on Novice alone. Your pup will learn fun basic tricks like spin, take a bow, peekaboo, paws up, 4 paws up, leg weaves, figure 8, jump for joy, and/or others!

Each class is custom created based on the dogs in class--not every trick is appropriate for all dogs, so we adjust based on who we have in class. There are tons of tricks to choose from and your pup will be a performer by the time they are done!

Kelly is a CTDI and can sign off on your DMWYD titles and your AKC trick titles

Prerequisites: Dogs/puppies must be comfortable working in a group class environment with dogs and people. Well-managed reactive dog who has been successful in group class behind a barrier can sign up.
