Get the most out of every training session you do!

If you know Tena in person, you know that she often struggles to find time and energy to train her own dogs. They definitely don't get as much as they should, but they maximize the benefits of every session to get a lot out of the little they do!

One of the big tools to maximizing her training is using reset times to practice other known skills. While she was working on flyball skills in this session, she also was able to practice a little bit of heeling, position changes, down stays, down stays with distractions, maintaining a solid tug transport even with distractions, and a couple different marker signals all during reset situations. It's time that otherwise would've just been Strax following her around or wandering around.

Flyball gives particularly long opportunities for practice during resets but even in other training sessions you can thoughtfully add in a little bit of work on known behaviors.

We are raffling off a free SJC class ($195 value)*! Tickets are $10/each--please bring cash (and are available at SJC or Point Breeze Veterinary Clinic Inc.).

We are raising money for a former PBVC employee. Tyrese worked at PBVC until he was accepted into vet school. He is battling kidney disease and really needs some support.

This a fabulous chance to win a highly discounted class while also helping out a fabulous human in need!

*If you want to participate but are not local, I could do a 90 minute zoom consult instead of the in person class AND can accept paypal donations.

Last year we offered a winter photoshoot session that was lots of fun with a bunch of doggo friends. Tena is open to doing this again this year if there's enough interest! No date has been chosen but most likely a saturday or sunday morning thru early afternoon time slots.

You get to pick the backdrop and the props and set the scene however you want it to be (Tena will help instruct you to make it look good, but she's gonna be on the floor with the camera). It's your job to handle the doggo and get them set into their spots etc.

Dogs who are reactive to other dogs are welcome, there won't be cross over. Dogs need to be safe with humans (or at least Tena, she'll likely have a helper but they could stay in the entry area if needed)

We did order a new backdrop last year so you'll have the choice between two winter themed backdrops and we have winter, Christmas, and Hanukkah props to use to make the photo whatever you want it to be!

We'll only host this if we have enough interest, so if you want to join the photoshoot, be sure to COMMENT below! Feel free to share this post!

If you haven't been following our event, you DEFINITELY should! This is going to be THE shopping event of the year for pet parents! We've got stuff for the pets and we've got stuff for the humans who love the pets! Select interested to stay up to date on all of our fabulous vendors and fun extra things that will be happening day-of!

We've got collars, bow-ties/bows, bandanas galore.
We've got pet friendly plants, odor vessels, and poop bag holders for sure!
We've got woodcraft arts, colorful art prints, fun sassy shirts, and more!

SJC will also be there (obviously)... we almost never do sales or specials, but we will be having some specials JUST on that day for folks who attend in person!

We still have a couple of vendor spots available, if you know an artist, crafter, or small business who might be interested.

Please consider sharing our event with friends and family--drop a hint of where your friends should shop for you for the holidays!

This is not your mom's intro to flyball class! This class covers flyball skills like foundation box work, box turn work, dead ball retrieves, and recalls. But it also emphasizes skills that make doing this sport possible, like staying calm while other dogs have fun, being able to work while other dogs are having fun, body handling things like collar grabs and restraint for recalls by other humans, etc. These are the nitty gritty "boring" skills that are really more important than the sequence itself.

So this class is a GREAT class even if you aren't totally sold on the sport of flyball, this class covers some really good skills (though we think you and your pup are gonna have so much fun that we'll see you for more flyball).

Prerequisites-- Dogs cannot be reactive. Some general excited barking is okay or mild barking at movement, but it's not targeted at other dogs/people who are just chilling. We can modify this class for younger pups.

We just got a sweet update from our friend Violet's human. Violet started with an initial consultation with us because she was a little extra exuberant and a bit hard for her humans to handle. After her consult, she jumped into an Elementary Manners class and has made huge strides! She's got some things to work on and we'll see her in class again, but wow has she made crazy big improvements and her humans are so happy!

Great Job Team Violet!
