Impromptu photo session availability. I (Tena) wasn't planning on being home this weekend but as many of you know, my mom's hip replacement was rescheduled for this week so I'm just rolling with it...

I am setting up the photo backdrop and lights and such for my own dogs on Friday morning (the 28th) in the small room (1924 Spring Garden Ave 15212). I figured that I would stay around to see if anyone wanted to join the fun. I added a few sessions for those folks who aren't shopping until they are dropping and want a cute winter photo. You can do as many different set ups as you want in the time allotted (but you can only pick one of the back drops--wooden barn with snow trees with blue ornaments or the new winter woodlands with critters.

It's last minute (welcome to my life right now, normally i have my own holiday card photos done by now LOL), but if I'm setting it up anyhow, figured I'd see if anyone wanted to take advantage of it!

If the handful of spots I have currently open fill, I can add a few more for in the afternoon!

$50 for 20 minute sitting and one edited hi-res personal use image. You can pre-purchase a 5 image package if you want or buy extra photos after the fact if you can't pick your favorite.

You are in charge of handling your pup for the photo but I will help you get them positioned well and where props would look good.

Ohhhh newsletters. We know that there are some struggles with folks getting the newsletter even if they are signed up (and we see their email on our list). Your inbox filters messages and we often get filtered into spam or promotions and aren't shown immediately (and we do get some bounce backs from inboxes that REALLY dont like our message and won't deliver it at all because of your settings or your email provider's settings).

Here are some things that can help your inbox stop hating us!

Our system of class announcements is designed to give our current/former students and newsletter interested parties first access to our classes before we put them up on our website for the general public. We want you to be able to have first dibs on your next class before the general public can snag a class.

I know i'm inundating you with posts today...but this is clearly very important! WhipKnits is a fabulous small business that I have hats and a snood or two from (if i had a need for more snoods, i would get this, it's stupid cute!).

Many of you know Meg and Sprocket the whippet from SJC...this is Sprocket's sister, Bubbles! So they are like family to us!

Small Biz Life -- sometimes you create a product that you think is spectacularly awesome and you even get Bubbles to model it perfectly, but for whatever reason, it just doesn't sell. This is the case with WhipKnits Max snoods. I went all in on these and I have a bunch of inventory. If you are in agreement that Bubbles looks insanely cute and festive in her Max snood and you need 1 or 2 for your doggos, then you are in luck. 2026 Course Catalog! These are the class plans for Jan/Feb! What classes are you looking forward to?

There are two NEW classes Leash Pullers Anonymous (first time as a full 7wk class) and Agility Rally Freestyle (ARF and Rally-Free mash up! This is an intermediate/advanced level class).

Our Newsletter will be going out at some point on FRIDAY after thanksgiving... follow our stories on Insta and FB as we'll announce exact timing probably on Weds or Thanksgiving some time!

We did have to cancel our planned C-WAGS league for winter. We had a couple class reschedules that made the big room unavailable on a day we planned to have league and Tena's mom (and C-WAGS table steward plus SJC office manager) had her hip replacement pushed back a bit which got our schedule a bit wonky. We should have a March League and should be able to pull in second judges!

Among all the other things we are doing, we are planning for 2026! If you could choose when or newsletter comes out... which day would you prefer? It another day completely?

We know it's a tricky time but also some time off for folks so when would YOU prefer the newsletter come out?

Get the most out of every training session you do!

If you know Tena in person, you know that she often struggles to find time and energy to train her own dogs. They definitely don't get as much as they should, but they maximize the benefits of every session to get a lot out of the little they do!

One of the big tools to maximizing her training is using reset times to practice other known skills. While she was working on flyball skills in this session, she also was able to practice a little bit of heeling, position changes, down stays, down stays with distractions, maintaining a solid tug transport even with distractions, and a couple different marker signals all during reset situations. It's time that otherwise would've just been Strax following her around or wandering around.

Flyball gives particularly long opportunities for practice during resets but even in other training sessions you can thoughtfully add in a little bit of work on known behaviors.
