Charlotte 2.20.2025
The last few days have been full of snow. Over twelve inches in 18 hours. A
rare event here and Charlotte is not too happy. Our girl does not like the cold
icy stuff. It prevents her from running like crazy in the yard. Her foster
brothers do not care for it either. Charlotte goes out and runs around the
cleared area on the deck trying to find a way into the yard. Then she
grumbles and barks at the snow as if it will clear the way for her before
wanting back in the house.
She is warming up to people a little more every day and usually remembers
the ones she had met before. When we go for walks, she ignores most
people and other pets we see along the way.
Charlotte still prefers to have her way when we are walking and wants to
explore everything which can be a challenge as she does not pay attention
to commands. Still a work-in- progress.
Charlotte loves her toys and will scatter them everywhere. She loves to
chase them, toss them and shake them. She tosses my throw pillows around
and when she tires of it, falls asleep beneath them.
Charlotte continues to be my shadow, follows me everywhere and greets me
excitedly at the door when I come home, (or even when I come in from just
checking the mail).
She is not scared as easily as she was when she first came to us. Charlotte is
okay with the vacuum cleaner and other loud noises now but will watch from
a distance. She has become less frightened of storms as well. Charlotte
continues to be protective of her home and will bark at every noise she hears
outside. She really takes guarding to heart.
We had our first spa day at the groomers and were glad to hear she did well
other than being a little impatient at times.
Charlotte eats well and I have not found anything she dislikes. She knows
when it is bedtime, and she sleeps in her crate through the night.
Charlotte has her own quirky personality, but we have grown to love who she
is.

Bonded pair

Kandi and Kane are absolute sweethearts! They are very much chow hounds. They dance at my feet when I’m getting their breakfast or dinner ready. They will go outside in this weather but not for long! These littles will be wonderful family member for whoever is lucky enough to adopt them.

Both are fostered in Pittsburgh PA.

Kandi is very much a Velcro dog. She’s always glued to me. She’s a fur lump on my leg, lap or shoulder. Kandi shows no interest in toys or playing. She rarely barks or grows and if she does it’s mainly at Kane. She is a total love bug. She’s very good at using piddle pads. Her only down side is - she snores!

Kane is a sweet boy who is also attached to me and likes to sit on my lap. He is more adventurous about things inside and out. He likes to “water” my outside wall even though I tell him it won’t grow. He’s not interested in toys or playing with my other pups. He’s does bark when the snow plows go up and down the street. What an attack dog!!!

Handsome Prince is almost 3 years old. At 16 pounds, he is a lot of puppy to love. And a lover he is. If you lay on the couch to watch TV, he is in your lap. If you sit in a chair, he is right there with his head on your leg waiting for a little loving.
Prince is a great night-time sleeper. He currently sleeps quietly in a doggie enclosure on the floor, but we are sure that he would enjoy sleeping in the big bed with his people (and his other rescue companions). We just don't want to spoil him yet.
Meal-times are easy. Put his food down and his face is in it 'till it's gone. He respects the other pups' dishes until they are done.
Toy time is "always". If he passes a toy box without dipping his head into it we would be worried. But gratefully, that has never happened. He will try to take a toy away from our girl rescue (Vittoria), but never from the boy rescue (Luca).
We have tried a new game of "Catch" which he loves. Make him SIT, then toss a toy to him and see if he catches it mid-air. OK, so not perfect yet...but we're on the way.
He loves treats when he comes in from a romp in the back yard and sits quietly while all three pups get theirs in turn.
We think Prince will be OK as an only dog (he loves his humans)...or sharing a household with other pups (he loves to chase our girl dog around). Probably can't go wrong either way.
He loves to sit on the top of any available couch...especially if it has a view of the outdoors.
Prince may not be good with children who may not respect his boundaries. He will give a warning if awakened unexpectedly or if an attempt is made to physically move him when he doesn’t want to move.
He is OK with loud noises such as thunder or fireworks.
Handsome Prince is staying in Connecticut with May Anne and Michael Franco.

Sweatshirt Sale to benefit the dogs under the care and financial support of
Save a Yorkie Rescue.

Save a Yorkie Rescue is working hard to save the lives of as many dogs as possible. We currently have 27 dogs under the full-time financial support of our rescue. We recently rescued 3 very young dog in rough condition. None of these tiny tots cannot be spayed or neutered until they gain weight. All three have never been seen by a vet and at 18 months old they will all need dental treatment due to their lack of nutritional support. These sweet dogs need vaccines, heartworm testing done, basic bloodwork, preventatives and all the love and care they will need to live a happy and healthy life.
We have been selling our sweatshirts in order to raise the funds need to support the dogs under our care. Won't you help by purchasing a sweatshirt.

When Tizz was brought into the emergency room at UPENN to be euthanized, I couldn’t turn my back on him. As a veterinary student, I knew he deserved a second chance, so I reached out to Save a Yorkie Rescue, who graciously took him in as I fostered him. They covered his neurologic consult, neuter, dental, vaccines, and bloodwork, ensuring he received the care he needed.

At first, we thought we were just helping him heal before finding his forever home—but Tizz had other plans. He quickly made himself comfortable in our home and hearts, bonding effortlessly with our 14-year-old Yorkie, Bella. It didn’t take long for us to realize that he had already found his forever family with us. After everything he had been through, seeing him grow, trust, and find joy again was truly special. Tizz may have had a rough start, but he has been a blessing in our lives, and we can’t imagine our family without him.

Ever wonder how our dogs get to their foster homes?
Many are transported by our volunteers but occasionally it’s just to far!
Last week with the help from Pilots N Paws we safely got three ladies to their new homes! Nothing like a private plane ride to make a girl feel special!

Dupuis got great news this week! First, he’s gone a whole month without a seizure! His blood test came back with ideal readings and so he will soon be ready for his neuter and dental and then he and Dino will be ready for their forever home. They are so adorable and fun and I know someone wants to enjoy their loving natures. They follow me everywhere in the house and snuggle up close when I’m working or just sitting on the sofa. They’re always ready for a walk but understand when I have to go out and leave them and then they just sit by the window and keep their eyes on everything going on outside.
