Happy 22nd Birthday to Lady Edna (also known as Quinoa)!

She’s the perfect example of why giving an older cat a chance can be one of the most rewarding experiences.

From her Hospice Foster, "She is a perfect blend of sassy and sweet. She was quite the bossy little gal when I brought her home, but she has mellowed considerably as she aged. She will let you know when she is not happy (as medical will tell you), still go crazy with a good catnip mouse, but her main activities nowadays are sleeping on her heated bed and lying on me at night to sleep. If she wants to sit on my lap and I ignore her, she will gently paw at my leg until I pick her up and give her snuggles. She has limited vision, can hardly hear a thing, cannot jump onto my lap like she used to, and no longer cares to participate in the silly antics of her sibs, but her heart is big and works perfectly."

"She brings joy to my life every single day, and I truly feel blessed to be able to spend her senior with her. She is an example of what it means to age gracefully (as with all my seniors) and I only hope I do as well as when I am her age."

If you’re considering opening your heart and home to a senior cat, especially one in need of hospice care, please visit our website at ThinkingOutsideTheCage.org/get-involved/foster/ to learn more about becoming a Hospice Foster. These precious souls have so much love to give, and they deserve the best care in their twilight years.

It's Whiskers Wednesday!

Meet Fennel! This sweet 2-year-old guy came to Animal Friends from our Humane Investigations Team. Fennel is diagnosed with Myotonia Congenita - which is a hereditary neuromuscular disorder characterized by persistent contraction, particularly during muscle movement. Because of this - Fennel is looking for a home where they will be able to monitor him and give him the assistance he needs with using a litterbox, eating/drinking, and day-to-day activities.

His diagnosis however has not stopped him from being a loveable boy who enjoys people and attention, of course. Fennel could also potentially live with other cats. If you're interested in taking Fennel home as a Hospice Adoption, reach out to us at the Adoption Department to learn what steps you need to take!

Fennel's foster mom says he is quite the guy, and is friendly, loveable, playful and navigates the household well. He is currently living with one of our other wobbly veggie cats, Rutabaga, and while he does not have to go home with Rutabaga, they are welcome to be adopted together.

Interested? Fill out an application at ThinkingOutsideTheCage.org

Meet Caroline!

She is available for adoption through our H2H Rehoming adoption program!

At Animal Friends, we believe the best place for a pet is with a loving family. Our H2H Rehoming program offers an alternative to surrendering by allowing families to actively participate in rehoming their pets.

Caroline is a very sweet, lovable, and affectionate green eyed beauty. She will rub all over you and can't get enough of her hoomans! Caroline is three years old, came from barn life, and is so ready to be someone's mushy little house cat. Let’s get the happily-ever-after show on the road for this lovable little girl. Caroline is fully vetted, current on vaccines, spayed, combo tested negative, and fully vetted.

It's Tongues Out Tuesday!

Meet Rusty! This handsome goofball made his way here after his previous owner passed away. Rusty is a senior dog, but you would never be able to guess! Rusty is medium energy and is described by his foster as very sweet and gentle. He would love nothing more to snooze the day away on the couch with you, and participate in some lazy home activities such as watching TV! He does get a bit excited to go on walks and can pull a little on leash, but is otherwise a very laid back guy!

Rusty needs to be the only dog in his household and could go to a home with children ages 13+. Rusty is currently on a special diet, and our Adoption Team would be more than happy to discuss this with you.
