Get ready for a bracket-style competition to find Western PA’s Cutest Canine!

Proceeds from your $125 entry fee will allow your pooch to compete for exciting prizes while benefitting Animal Friends. Portrait sessions with White Deer Photography will be held through mid-March. During the competition, your dog will be matched up with another pooch with bracket-style voting until a final winner is crowned! Last year there was a bracket of 16 dogs. This year let's expand this bracket to 32!

The winner will receive gifts from local pet-friendly businesses, and will also go on to compete at a national level. All entrants will receive a custom photo gift from White Deer Photography and a goodie bag of fun items from our sponsors.

She is a special girl who has a heart murmur and has some special needs because of this. Happy Caturday! Meet Devon!

This lovable big boy came to Animal Friends after his previous owner unfortunately was no longer able to care for him. Devon is currently 10 years old and 20lbs, showing that he was extremely well-loved. He's still adjusting to the shelter life since it is all very new to him, but he's already making a huge name for himself as being incredibly affectionate and energetic. Devon has been diagnosed as FIV positive but he is not phased by this and is a huge advocate on why adopting an FIV+ cats is important. Although he's approaching his senior years, Devon is full of energy and ready to show you just how amazing he is!

Meet Tala and Inanna!

This bonded pair of adorable sisters have a form of dwarfism, which makes their legs a bit short and their bodies a bit more stout than the average kitten. These two ladies are a lazy pair, who love to spend their days snuggling up with one another snoozing the day away, either in your lap, or on their own.

Inanna is special needs and is both deaf as well as blind. While we believe she does have some sight it is very limited, making navigating her space hard without assistance and support. She relies on her sister, Tala, as well as the help of her foster mom to find her way to her food, litterbox, and toys. She does not always hit the litterbox, so p*e pads are recommended in her space as well to help her be her best self.

Tala is also hard of hearing, so sometimes her and her sister don't notice when you approach. Because of this, these girls are not interested in any dog or cat friends, as they become very startled by any new animals they meet due to her special needs, therefore we are asking that they go to a home without any other pets.

These special girls will require specialized care, so we are looking for adopters who are committed to ensuring they are setting them up for success in their home.

Happy Caturday! Meet Caraway! Caraway was part of a mass surrender of roughly 55 cats in July of 2024. These cats, in general, became known as our 'C-Cats' as they all were given names starting with the letter 'C.' Caraway is a four-year-old male. He has slowly opened up and has begun to show his true personality. He is still timid, but we learned that he enjoys playing with toys. He would do best in a home with older children or adults only. The Goose is Loose: Meet Loosey Goosey! This sweet and spunky girl came to us after her owner could no longer care for her. She is a two-and-a-half-year-old female mixed breed. She loves to play ball and participate in enrichment here at Animal Friends, often playing fetch with her handlers in our outdoor play yards or enjoying quiet time on nice long strolls around campus. Loosey can get a bit overstimulated with her handling and will need an adopter who is patient and willing to work with her to build and establish a routine at home. She would do well in a household that can give her plenty of mental and physical stimulation/activity. Loosey, as you may notice by her photos, does have some facial deformities, so interested adopters will be able to work with our medical staff to discuss Loosey Goosey's future care. Loosey would prefer an adult-only home but may be able to live with another dog pending a successful meet and greet at the shelter. Interested? Happy Caturday! Meet Millie and Mischief! These two bonded ladies came to Animal Friends as part of a Humane Investigations rescue of 25 cats. They're looking for a quiet and patient home together where they can start to feel comfortable in their new surroundings at their own pace. Both Millie and Mischief started out fearful, but with the help of our staff and volunteers, they both started to come out of their shells. They would enjoy bonding with their new family through play and especially tuna and delicious treats to encourage their progress. These two divas have greatly enjoyed residing in our Yana's Cabin, which is located in our Welcome Center. Millie & Mischief are also two of Yana's "Special" Felines which means their requested adoption donation has been underwritten and they will be sent home with an individualized starter kit of supplies and other support based on their unique needs.
