Reputable Breeder Puppy ($3,000–$5,000+)
• Health tested parents
• Lower risk of genetic issues
• Vaccinated and dewormed
• Lifetime support from breeder
• Predictable coat and temperament

Backyard Breeder/Puppy Mill Puppy ($500–$2,000)
• No genetic testing
• Higher risk of expensive medical conditions
• Often sick or improperly vaccinated
• No breeder support
• Increased likelihood of behavioral issues

💡 Long-term veterinary expenses for poorly bred dogs can far exceed the initial cost of a well-bred puppy.

Example: A Goldendoodle with untreated hip dysplasia can require surgery costing $3,000–$7,000 per hip (American College of Veterinary Surgeons, ACVS).
