Hey everyone, we are gearing up for our 5th, yes I said 5th, year for gathering donations for Presents Fur Pets. We are collecting donations for Spirits Place in St Albans, and the Somerset Humane Society in Skowhegan.

We have added more elves to our group to help with our on location events. At this time the site in Skowhegan is still TBD but it will be on Saturday, Nov 25th and our 2 locations on Saturday, Dec 2nd will be at Danforth's Down Home Supermarket in Pittsfield and Tractor Supply in Palmyra 9am to 1pm at both locations!

If you arent local to the area and want to donate money for our recepients to use for vet bills and also for us to go purchase items we know are still needed for supplies for them, you can venmo me:

Do you treat for Dirofilaria immitis aka heartworm? If you don't I am here to spread the word about how important it is to start a monthly treatment NOW!

We are going through heartworm treatment with our loved Pachi the Arubian Cunucu and its no fun! Unfortunately in areas of the world that dogs roam free they tend to contract these nasty parasites. The treatment is painful for the dog, it's a 3 to 4 month process with the added rest time and expensive. A monthly treatment is less then $15.00 (at our vet). Can a dog live with heartworm? Yes, but as the heartworm grows it is also causing more discomfort and damage to the dogs heart, lungs and other organs.

I never realized how important it was to treat for heartworm until I started learning more about it. I always figured if there was too many mosquitoes out I wouldn't be outside so neither would my dog. That's not always the case it only takes 1 infected mosquito to infect an animal not just dogs.
