2025 Corn crop looked a lot different than 2024, 2024 crop yielded 75' of an agbag and 2025 yielded 450' plus a small pile. Mother nature was definitely more cooperative this year! This past weekend we put in 2 long days/nights but we got it done. We were bringing in the last few loads in the rain! The dudes helped this spring till the field and put the seed in the ground and you bet they helped harvest it too! They are amazing helpers and we definitely couldn't have done it without our friends from Viaduct Holsteins, Thank you! We have a few more days to help at Viaduct to finish silage and snaplage but the fall weather has been pleasant to get all the harvesting done.

Today's episode of Hughes Humor 🚜🤣

Back in August we traveled to AK to visit some of Alan Hughes family. If you recall,, Lil D bought a combine 😉😉 from our favorite JD salesman(Alan's cousins husband, Steve).

The purchase agreement and invoice arrived in the mail today!!! We haven't agreed on trucking yet so might take years for the transaction to happen(haha), plus we may have to sell the farm to pay for it😣🤣 Lil D is still giggling. Stephanie Hughes

Yesterday's episode of Hughes Humor 🤣😣🤦🏼‍♀️

I was out numbered, Alan Hughes had to work late and I was left to wrangle the dudes after school last night.

"Situation #1" - Dude #1 & #3 come running "MA DEREK'S HEIFER ATE THE 4-WHEELER KEY!!" The 4-wheeler that i need and use daily btw😣! They left my 4-wheeler in the cow lot unsupervised and yes the key was missing! Thank goodness we found it on the ground near by.

"Situation #2" - I asked Dude #2 why he was working in the garage in the dark and using a flashlight. He says "um the lights went out when I may or may not have plugged in something and it started to spark" The same garage/shed i just filled with our hay for winter btw😣! I showed him where the breaker box is and taught him about breakers. Thank goodness our shed didn't burn down.

A little behind posting but the dudes had an incredible and memorable year showing their Junior projects at the Central Wisconsin State Fair in mid August. The work on their calves and cows ends the last show day of the fair and begins the next day for the next year. Obviously some of their prospect calves haven't arrived yet but they care for mothers and the rest of the cattle 365 days a year. Not only do they dedicate their time to their cattle, they work very hard on a few projects, grow crops and raise chickens for the fair. The fair is such a fun time to spend with friends, enjoy the carnival, and eat yummy fair food! Our exclamation point for our summer! And a great one it was!!! Stephanie Hughes Alan Hughes

Two weeks ago, we loaded the Hughes family up and headed for Arkansas. The smartest thing we did was rent an SUV, for the 3 day trip, to separate these crazy dudes🤣. We traveled 1,682 miles and survived! Our destination was Searcy, AK to see Alan Hughes' Aunt Jan Hogan, Uncle Tom, and his cousins, Tanya Lercher and Tammie Lenoard! We made a few stops along the way and on the way home but the best time was spent visiting with family. Truly one of our best trips we have done by far! Our time was so memorable❤️

Today's episode of Hughes Humor...

84 hours, 16 min, and 16 seconds...the amount of time the Hughes family didn't touch a cow this past week! Not all of us missed the cows but obviously some of us did! 🐄🤣

We rented an SUV so we could separate the Dudes, each could sit in different quadrants and they still managed to pick on each other🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 we left on Monday and returned early Friday morning.

We had an amazing time visiting members of Alan's family in Arkansas! Quality time with family and a little sight seeing and tours. We will post more about all the stops in the next few posts.

Shout out to Houston and Kenni Bores Olson for doing all the chores and Milking when we were gone. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

The 2025 WI State Fair was a success! Sent 2 of our dudes this year! And I am so thankful for the 3 days away from the farm to go help and watch them show. State Fair was always my favorite place to go when I was a kid and I love that the boys get to experience it as well! The classes, both Showmanship and the breed classes are so competitive. The days are long and its a lot of work but having fun is the most important! They went to West Allis with 2 awesome chaperones/mentors(I may be partial one is my sister lol), 21 kids, and 28 head of cattle. These kids learn to work together and help each other out for 6 days. The new friendships are lifelong.
