One of the best and most memorable days of our lives! Time sure flies when you're having fun(most days are fun)!

With a barn full of jerseys and a small handful of Holsteins, it's truly luck for us to have a Holstein heifer for the Hughes Dudes to show each year. Luck brought us 3 young calves for them this year, so all 3 Dudes each had a calf! We attended the District 4 Holstein Show the last 2 days and the dudes did AWESOME!!Dude #3 participated in Peewee Showmanship last night and today was 3rd open, 2nd Jr in the 10 yr old and younger spring calf class, Dude #2 was 1st in Junior Showmanship, 4th open, & 2nd Jr Spring Calf, and Dude #1 was 2nd in Intermediate Showmanship, 2nd open, & 1st Jr Spring Calf! All 3 calves went back in the ring for Junior Champion contention of the Junior Show and took 3rd place in Junior Best 3! We were very proud of our 3 little calves and Hughes dudes and even more proud that all 3 were bred and owned! Shout out to two of our favorite peeps, Deagen Sandelier and Ms Ashley Marie for there help too❤️🐄

I too play the card..."Hey DW go feed the new calf, I'll time you!" Flash he is out the door with the bottle.

Well...B called me out tonight🤣 "Mom you really dont time him do you!?"
"Um maybe" LOL😉
A few minutes later...
"Hey B can you go feed the other bucket calves, I bet you can't do it in 1 min and 30 seconds"

Well that's a wrap, year 2 as the Pittsville Peewee Team Gold is complete. And what a year we had! Fundamentals and Fun, our moto! These boys were squirly but that is definitely a given for 6-8 yr old boys...i am so incredibly proud of the strides they took from the first day of practice until our final league game today. I couldn't have done it without the assistant coaches, the volunteers, and the families! "I am gonna miss this...".💜⚾️

Happy 15th Birthday to our Dude #1, Bryce, today!!! 💙🛻🚜🌽🐄🎂⚾️🍔
He is doing one of the many things he loves today, showing cattle! And as soon as we get home he will be tinkering and driving his JD110! To say we are proud of who he is and who he is becoming is an understatement. He has a heart of gold, in that strapping 6 foot body, so helpful, kind, and respectful. Such a great young man that we love so much!!

Dude #1, 4th place. If anyone has ever showed a yearling heifer they know what he had to deal with. He handled it with grace. She will be putting on lots of miles this summer so hopefully each show will be better.

Such a memorable night for my little ballers!

Varsity Team won the regional championship last night. We were in the 3rd inning of our Peewee game(our field was adjacent to the varsity field). A spontaneous idea hit me, I called timeout out and had both teams(Pittsville Peewee Gold and Purple teams) rush the field to congratulate the older boys! CONGRATULATIONS VARSITY, and thank you so much for taking a second for these Lil ballers, you have no idea how much it meant to them⚾️💜💛!

Dear School Teachers,
Please excuse the Hughes Dudes from being a bit sleepy today, they were farming last night!

Alan finished and pulled the planter in the yard at 5:00am, shortly after, it started raining! 2025 Corn is in the ground! 20 days earlier than last year, that in itself feels great! Having our Dudes work along side means the world to us. Once again we are thankful for our incredible relationship we have with our friends, The Bangarts. We are glad to help them and appreciate their help with planting and harvesting.
