As we continue to celebrate our 75th anniversary, we had the chance recently to visit with Joel Hastings, a former National Dairy Shrine board member and long-time supporter of our organization. Joel is retired publisher of DairyBusiness communications and frequent host of the Dairy Voice podcast, which was the source of our conversation.

While our conversation focused on anniversary events and historical references, we also talked about upcoming activities centered on World Dairy Expo. To listen to the podcast, click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tCAyQ-i5O0&list=PLFPI69ZIakcGFN30t4_Bw_OVpEx_wFP6U&index=7

Your chance to support a great cause 😊

Happy anniversary to us!

On June 20, 1949 a group of dairy industry leaders representing all facets of the dairy industry met in Minneapolis, Minnesota to organize the Dairy Shrine Club. It was the culmination of two years of planning, led primarily by Karl Musser, who at that time was secretary of the American Guernsey Cattle Club.

In his remarks to the Dairy Cattle Congress board of directors, Musser said the following: β€œNowhere in America has there been built anything that would approach a Shrine for the purebred dairy cattle breeders. Nowhere is there a Hall of Fame into which can be built for posterity constant reminders to future generations of what great cattle have left to the industry.”

Fast forward 75 years and the National Dairy Shrine has evolved as the industry has changed. We've eclipsed 20,000 members. More than 1,000 college students have accumulated more than $1 million worth of scholarships. A world-class museum has been created, and hundreds of industry leaders have been feted.

But we're not done yet. We're already looking ahead for the next 75 years. Our goal is to greatly expand our scholarship program, revamp our award program to recognize an even wider span of leaders and evolve our museum to create greater engagement with our visitors.

You can help us get there with a donation to our capital campaign. Just visit www.campaign75.org to contribute to our effort.

To all of you who have had a hand in our success, we sincerely thank you! And we encourage everyone to jump on board for the next 75 years!
