I had the chance to spend some time with Velvet over the holidays in Pennsylvania. Velvet is one of the ten labs we helped with transport from China this past March to the US all saved from becoming dog meat. She’s living the spoiled life. She loves cuddles and belly rubs, sleeping on couches and beds, and REALLY loves her car rides. She so sweet and petit.

There’s nothing that makes me happier than to hear from the adopters of the labs that were rescued by and flight sponsored by . One of those lucky labs hit the jackpot with his amazing adopter, . Pike, a goldador, was rescued from a slaughterhouse May of 2020 by so had been waiting a loooong time for an adopter. Susan reached out to upon learning of Pike being available for adoption in one of our posts. Easily approved as an adopter, she patiently awaited his arrival from China, flying to the US this past March. She picked him up at JFK from his long flight from China where he promptly ate a roll of paper towels she had in the back seat of her car. I guess the inflight snacks were as non-existent as what we all receive on flights these days. As you can see, Pike, now Mr. Wonton, loves showing off his belly for rubs. He’s living the best life with his sibling Dodger and is so loved. Thank you for stepping up and opening your heart and home to him. Truly, without adopters such as Susan, organizations that save these dogs from the horrors of dog meat slaughterhouses cannot complete their crucial objective of giving them a life in a loving forever home.

First time to see this giant bunch of water for slaughterhouse survivors Gizmo & Buddy. Buddy the adventurous one charged right in the water only to learn about breaking waves. A tad startling for him.

Recently Duck and Gizmo were asked to participate in a professional photo shoot! They earned a pay check for being so dang cute that will be used to assist with getting another dog saved from slaughter for dog meat to come to the US or UK and a forever home.

Gizmo and I are on the road with Gizmo’s shelter mate in China, Buddy and his incredible adopter on our way from Colorado to Los Angeles for an event put on by . If you have not heard about of what these gals are doing in China saving dogs, cats, donkeys, pigs, the occasional turtle etc…from dog meat slaughterhouses and beyond, please visit to learn more. We’re really excited to have a chance to meet them and learn more about what it’s like living in Harbin, China and caring for the over 1000 animals currently at their sanctuary and the work being done to help with animal welfare awareness.

I recently had a conversation with a couple very interested in learning about adopting a dog meat trade survivor. Very nice people but asked if they came with tests for hip dysplasia. A fine question but a reminder of just how foreign it must be for people of our culture to understand what saving from a dog meat slaughterhouse really means. When you adopt a survivor from the dog meat trade in East Asia, you never know what behavioral or medical issues (if any) you may run into. Our boy needs a little extra care for his wonky front legs. We knew that. Possibly genetic, possibly poor nutrition as a pup…their history was not kind before being rescued for the most part. Stolen pets do end up in slaughterhouses but once there, the horrors and trauma, both mentally and physically, are beyond comprehension. It may require a bit more work but believe me they know and understand you’re helping them. It goes right to my heart when Captain lifts his paws for me to re-bandage him even though it is not totally comfortable for him. I’ve never experienced anything like the ability of survivors to, if not immediately eventually, have the awareness you’re totally there for them. Take a chance, please consider adopting a dog meat trade rescue. They really are an absolute miracle every day.

Who is ready to open up their ❤️ and home to Goose, a 7 month old Golden puppy! His rescue organization, says he’s ready to fly from China to LAX as early as September 20th if we can find him a forever home. We’ve been helping out a bit with his expenses over in China. He is neutered and healthy to fly! Goose is one of 9 surprise pups unbeknownst to TB3, when they rescued their mama, Coco, she had 9 more Goldens in her belly. They have been very loved and well cared for in China by TB3 caregivers and are now looking forward to being spoiled in the US. Please DM for more information and or visit to learn all about Goose. Remember Skippy?! covered his transport and medical fees to travel and was able to fly with the other 9 labs we sponsored from China to the US in March! In the group videos received from China, Skippy, Captain, and our adopted girl Fancy (now Gizmo) were often palling around together at the sanctuary. We called them “The Three Musketeers”. There was no way we were helping his buds to fly and not him. We picked him up with 4 of the other Western US bound labs at SFO on March 24th and his big hearted foster mama picked him up once we got to Moab. His foster mom, with heaps of love and patience, helped him to learn about his new life as a spoiled boy with lots of trips to the dog park too. He’s now with his best friend and forever dad living a life of love, camping, and all kinds of fun dog stuff. You can follow his new adventures

Buddy is one of the labs helped get to the US from China. He’s now living a much deserved spoiled life with his incredible adopters . We were able to have a reunion with Buddy and his mates, Captain & Gizmo, who we’re all rescued with Buddy from a slaughterhouse in Yongcheng China October 2020. They had a blast together and did some wading at a nearby lake. Still learning about that swimming thing! The following photo is of Buddy the night of his rescue in Yongcheng with the others.

Andie is one of the 10 labs assisted with flight cost out of China through her rescue organization who bravely saved her from a slaughterhouse November of 2019. She arrived with the others in late March and is now living her best life on a ranch outside of Aspen, Colorado. I’m told she loves her soft beds and hanging out watching the deer in the yard. Couldn’t do this without wonderful adopters such as Andie’s!

Gizmo’s first bed of her very own! When the Orvis box arrived, she sat next to it while I opened it knowing something special was in it for her. Once I had the bed out, she thought the empty box was pretty cool until she learned it’s contents were even better. Every day with these survivors of the meat trade is beyond amazing.

Still cannot believe these beautiful souls are here! I’ve adopted and fostered quite a few rescues, these guys are so incredibly kind and sweet. A testament to the kindness shown by their caregivers at the shelter where they spent the past 2.5 years.

We’re fostering this gorgeous girl through No Dogs Left Behind. She arrived with 9 other Labradors in late March from China saved from dog meat slaughterhouses. Andie is around 5 or 6 years old, loves people, dogs, her toys and cuddles. She truly is perfect! She’s currently in Moab, Utah with us enjoying walks and tennis balls. If you live in the Utah/Colorado area and are interested in adopting this sweetheart, please message me. All adoptions go through her rescuing organization, No Dogs Left Behind. We funded her flight transport from China to help get this girl out and adopted. Her adoption fee is 450$ to cover her vet exam at the airport where she entered the US (I know….ridiculously expensive!). We love her and want to find her the best loving home possible.

It’s finally happened! On March 24th the 9 Labradors transport sponsored from China in addition to our adopted lab flew to the US! They’re all safe and sound with adopters and fosters being spoiled and loved. 5 are in the East and 5 picked up in San Francisco. Keep posted for pix of them all enjoying their new life!

So many labs rescued from the dog meat trade in East Asia need our help. It’s incredibly hard to decide which ones to help through sponsorship and finding adopters in the US or UK. No Lab Left Behind will often select labs that have been overlooked by adopters due to age or possibly medical such as an orthopedic issue as you will see Captain, one of our flight sponsored labs, has in his forelimbs. Please help by spreading the word about the potential to adopt a lab saved from being slaughtered for dog meat in China. Rescues such as The Big 3 Rescue, Plush Bears Shelter, Shanghai Animal Rescue, Harbin SHS Animal Rescue, No Dogs Left Behind are just a few who currently have Labradors and Goldens they have rescued in China and who desperately need a committed adopter.
