Surprise, surprise! We here at PVPC have yet another new doctor on the loose. Letā€™s welcome Dr. Tish Starr to the team!

Dr. Starr has a deep passion for animals as they have been a central focus for her entire life. She was born in Texas, but grew up in Nebraska where her family bred and raised champion field trial golden retrievers. Her experience at a young age with this breed instilled a deep love and sense of responsibility for them. When Dr. Starr was in her teens, her family lived in Nevada where she bought and cared for her first horse. She has great memories of exploring the desert trails and nearby mountains every summer with this little quarter horse.
While in undergraduate school in San Francisco, Dr. Starr worked as a bellhop in a hotel on Fishermanā€™s Wharf as well as worked as a driver for a pet taxi service. After finishing her undergraduate, she went to UC Davis where she graduated veterinary school and since then has gained a wide range of experience in veterinary medicine including running a veterinary house call practice in Sacramento as well as owning and operating Camino Animal Hospital several years ago.
When she is not practicing medicine, Dr. Starr spends her free time at home with her husband, three dogs, four cats, chicken, and horse. Dr. Starr is thrilled to be working back in the foothills and is looking forward to meeting PVPCā€™s beloved clients and their pets. Please join us as we welcome her to the PVPC family!

Please welcome Dr. Claire to the PVPC Family!!

Dr. Claire, a California Bay Area native, has always had a deep love for animals. She first nurtured this love by volunteering at the Marine Mammal Center, where she gained hands-on experience caring for marine wildlife. Her love for animal care led her to UC Davis, where she earned her B.S. in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology in 2007, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2013 at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

Over the years, Dr. Claire has worked in a variety of veterinary settings, from small animal clinics to animal shelters, where she has a special place in her heart for shelter pets. In 2014, she became certified in acupuncture, adding a holistic element to her practice.

She has a strong interest in surgery, preventative medicine, and senior pet care, where she finds great fulfillment in improving the quality of life for her patients. She enjoys building meaningful relationships not only with the pets she treats but also with their owners, guiding them through their petsā€™ health journey with compassion and understanding.

Outside of work Dr. Claire loves to spend time with her family and friends. Her two young boys keep her very busy outdoors, whether it's playing sports, hiking, or camping. She also enjoys quiet moments at home crafting, painting, or reading alongside her five cats and dog.

Say hi to Sabrina! She is looking for her forever home!

We believe Sabrina is about 8 months old (born mid-July).
She is very vocal and loves cuddles and playtime.
She is getting used to other cats but is wary of dogs.
She was found and brought here after a dog attacked and broke her left rear leg. We did surgery to remove the unstable femoral head to help her heal and to be able to keep her leg.
It hasn't slowed her down! She is able to use it running, jumping, and climbing all over the place.
She is very active and a happy girl, we will miss her, but would love to see her in a home of her own!

She is spayed, microchipped, and her first-year vaccines are complete.

Please contact our Administrator Amy for adoption (530) 644-2424.
