At Birt's American Bulldogs, we breed for kindness, conformation, and working ability. Placerville is on Hwy. 50 about one and a half hours from Lake Tahoe.

Birt’s American Bulldogs is located on a working cattle ranch in beautiful Placerville, CA. Birt’s American Bulldogs began with “Athena.” Athena grew up at our oil-and-lube business. Customers would come in and she would let children sit on her, put their fingers in her mouth, and best of all, entertain them. Athena’s first litter was out of a breeding to Boyd’s/Ostergaard’s Danish Auroch, the 20

05/2006 Bully Male Champion. The 10-pup litter went very quickly. We kept two females from that litter, “Winnie” and “Rebel,” and the three girls became our foundation females. Athena’s first litter to Auroch went so well that we rebred her the same way. The 9-pup litter went equally as fast as the first litter, and we ended up falling in love with 2 of the pups, “Belle Brindle” and “Titan,” and ended up keeping them. We are proud that our pups can now be found in other states including Oregon, Washington, Nevada, New Mexico, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Oklahoma, Texas, Maryland, Colorado… to name just a few. Boyd’s/Ostergaard’s Danish Auroch created a great foundation for our breeding program, and since then we acquired “D and D’s Beast of Big Tyme’s,” the 2007 Bully Male Champion, Birt’s/Diehard’s Clockwork Oranje, and Wild Wonder’s Gucci, the ABNA Jr. Champion and European Jr. Champion, imported from Hungary. We are continually striving to create excellence in the American Bulldog. At our El Dorado County licensed, non-commercial kennel, we breed for kindness, conformation, and working ability. All of our dogs are sold with ABA, ABRA, NKC, or UKC registrations. Pups are given their required vaccinations and de-worming, and come with a great guarantee. American Bulldogs are uniquely wonderful dogs. They are powerful and dominant, protective and smart! The short answer is yes, dog waste is compostable, but there are necessary precautions you must take first to make sure you're composting the waste properly.

Just an FYI. Pete and Aimee in Canada will be receiving their special delivery the latter part of July. See the picture!! Our friend, Glenn Bracht, will be the trusted transporter. If you would be interested and live in NorCal, Oregon, or Washington, we have pups that are only deliverable by ground transport as they are too big to fly in cabin. The newer litter is also available. 🐶Let me know if you would like additional information.

We have not collaborated with another kennel in a long time. That being said, Dawghouse Kennels (Crystal and Justin Mayer and family) will be providing the stud, Mayer’s Rampage of HSB (a Ch. Oranje son) for a breeding to Birt/Jones Emerald, whose pedigree boasts a myriad of well-known dogs in the American Bulldog breed. Both Emerald and Rampage tip the scales at 112 pounds. The litter is planned for fall of 2024. This litter will be the gold standard for future litters.

Another big “thank you” to Alex R. In South Dakota for keeping us updated on Beau’s progress. In less than a week, Beau is fully enmeshed in family life. Here’s Beau and his human brother, Trent. In the background you can see the family cat also enjoying a snooze with the sleeping buddies. My heart is full. ❤️. Our progression of some of the dogs on our bed. First is Dixie and Smallz. When Dixie passed, we had Moira to be Smallz’s new buddy. When Smallz passed, our house was blessed with Merlin. Moira has passed and Merlin is holding interviews for a new bed buddy. ❤️

We can’t be more ecstatic when we receive updates on our pups. And yesterday we were on top of the world to receive 3 updates that confirmed that our program for breeding for kindness is working! I have a video I will post later after my customer gives me permission…

A note to people who want to avoid a vet charge, usually around $850, to clean your pup’s teeth. My friend, Nichole, has her kids brush Angel’s teeth every night along with their own. Notice how beautiful and white Angel’s teeth are? Nichole says the trick is to start early.

My dear friend Juanita sent me this video. Bohdan is playing “Find the Pupperoni: Hot and Cold”. Bohdan is another smarty pants American Bulldog that started life here at the ranch. ❤️

This is one of the cutest videos I’ve ever seen! Wait till the end! Puts a smile on my face! That’s Miss Alivia and her dad, showing in the same class at the UKC show in Lodi today.

Does everyone remember Bonnie? She is now known as Angel, and totally loved and confident in her new home with Nichole G. And family.

So many happy memories!

As expected, the power is out at Birt’s American Bulldogs. And it is dumping snow at the ranch. We have the generator running and heat lamps on all the dogs, and the pups are in the house, enjoying the warmth in my den or bedroom. ☺️

Saturday was a great day at the UKC Show in Lodi, Ca. for Birt’s American Bulldogs. We are very proud of our two handlers, Jennifer Jones and her son, Tyler. It has been two years since our last show, and we appreciate the opportunity to show what our breeding program has accomplished. We showed 5 dogs, and are pleased to announce that Jennifer’s dog, Ivory, took Best Female, and Ivory’s sire, Maker’s Mark, took Best Male, Best of Breed, and went on to place 4th in the Guardian Group!
