Great time hanging with like minded individuals talking shop on our passions and sharing Ideas. I have been going to the OTA since 2010 missing a few years and never have I regretted spending time with these guys learning, learning and learning some more in every conversation we have. I will continue to better myself for all of my customers and strive to do so also for pride in my work.

Good morning beautiful … fresh one glued up last night. Love this sweep sneak 800 series from Ohio Taxidermy Supply. It has become one of my favorites for a wide rack buck hung near a ceiling. Really shows the attitude of a mature buck slinking through his environment. This buck had a cool “maine” cowlick. My neck incisions are only roughly 6 inches from the base of the antlers as shown in the photo of the raw skin hanging you can see my incision and the wet hair cowlick down the back of the neck just like people whitetails are individuals with unique characteristics. Love how different they all are. He will dry for a few weeks and get finished up this month.

Opening morning was something special. And after the hunt I got to stand at the truck with a few fellow hunters and exchange stories. The birds were on fire and looking for love… in many of the wrong places for them but the right places for a few successful hunters. Alot of strong numbers of 2 year old birds from a hatch passed = alot of happy hunters this season.

Everyone out there remember what it is truly about its NOT just a bird in the bag. It’s witnessing nature, soaking in the minutes given to us, and sharing the experiences we have together. Some of the best stories are the ones empty handed. Although it’s very sweet sealing the deal on a willing gobbling, strutting vocal bird.

Especially when you do it in 1700’s fashion with a flintlock 20 gauge and bring him to close range. 🤙🏽❤️🦃 💥 💨 💨 💨

Advanced Equipment has built false confidence in bow hunting. I grew up watching these guys and others learning as much as I could every Saturday morning on ESPN Suzuki’s Great Outdoors…. Yes the only time you could view a hunting or fishing program each week from around 7am-11am each weekend… this was my “cartoon time” … If you know you know…. Even with today’s Archery equipment practice is overlooked too often. It is a skill set that should be practiced year-round. An ethical shot is still within 30 yards regardless. Deer especially have muscular motor reactions that will cause a bad shot even with good shot placement and aim…. we owe it to the animal to only take a shot that’s going to guarantee the highest probability we will hit our mark. if you’re a serious bowhunter, you should shoot your bow at least once a week even if you’re using a crossbow, you can practice different angles & situations of hypotheticals. It will make you a better hunter. Get close and hone your woodsman skills. There is not “much”skill sitting over bait. Learn the woods and the animal you peruse.
