Help us congratulate our Volunteer of the Month- Katie!

Katie has to be one of RSR’s longest standing volunteers! She has been volunteering with us for 20 years! She truly loves the opportunity to help the riders, and educate people in the program. Over the years, Katie has come to love many of our horses, but her favorite is Elvis! Their bond is so strong that one of her favorite memories was getting to snuggle Elvis while he was sunbathing! Outside of the barn Katie loves to spend time with family, including with her 5 half siblings!

Thank you Katie for all that you do! We so appreciate your dedication and loyalty to the program! Congratulations!

Help me congratulate our January Volunteer of the Month- Nadia!

Nadia heard about us from her sister who is also an animal lover and she never looked back after her first day volunteering with us! Penelope and Nadia came to RSR around the same time so Nadia naturally feels a strong bond with Penelope. Nadia loves the team atmosphere of strong, welcoming crew mates on her Saturday shift. Nadia is a consistent team member that we can rely on- on weekends this is an exceptional quality to have!

Thank you so much Nadia for all of your help! You add so much to our team of volunteers! Congratulations!

Help us congratulate our December Volunteer of the Month- Steve!

Steve has been volunteering with us for 2.5 years and is always up for a new project! He is often helping with property management or new developments around the property. When is taking a break from working so hard, you can find him spending some quality time with Rein. Steve is always willing to step in when we are short handed and it means the world to us!!

One of Steve’s favorite memories is enjoying a fall twilight at the end of the pasture. What a beautiful moment!

After Steve retires from teaching he would like to adopt a few retired racing greyhounds to add to his family! He has the biggest heart!

Steve, we cannot thank you enough for all the time and effort you put into our program! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

We did something! An idea that went big for all the right reasons. First a huge thank you to Witches Night Out Joliet, IL Annual Fundraiser for supporting our desire to improve our covered arena. We need a way to make it more functional for Novembers and March's. But we also have another issue for our horses, they are getting old and need to slow down. These two bumps in the road came together with amazing results! FIVE brand new stalls that close the north side of the arena from wind, rain, and snow. Thank you to Jim Corradetti who helped fund this masterpiece! Thank you to Ken Huizenga who was the contractor who constructed the 5,000 piece puzzle! Thank you to John Francis, always the engineer! All of our volunteers who helped with moving things, put up with crazy turn outs, moving mats, our two great work groups who gave us three Saturdays to winterize and stain the new stalls! I am in love with US! Together, we do good things- I love it! Thank you all!

Our Hearts & Hooves Community Outreach Program offers visits to first responder groups and senior centers. New volunteers are always welcome - no training is required. 🩷 What we love 🩷: • Seeing our riders make big strides toward physical, mental and social growth • Bringing smiles to faces • Meeting new people and making new friends • Making a big difference in our community ⭐️ What we need ⭐️: Volunteers who can help with any of the following: • Assisting with riding sessions – including walking with and supporting riders on horseback or leading horses • Feeding and caring for farm friend animals • Help with barn and farm chores • Assistance or leadership with building projects
