Look what we have. Standstead grey granite corn hole boards. They are fantastic. And tested and approved by Mercer guys. The bags land and slide perfectly. You will need to set up a permanent resting place for these beauties.

We do understand these are trying times for everyone... but we cannot run our businesses effectively if we can't put trash in our dumpster because they're full. Mercer and Allstate have dumpsters that are meant for our use only. Please, find another way to discard your trash.... We will put up a camera if it comes to that. Thank you for your understanding.

Those of us that are grieving the loss of someone special in our lives tend to feel the heart ache a bit more during holidays or special occasions. We want so badly to “cheer” people up, but sadness does prevail at times and can be overwhelming. Love deep, hug often, share memories, cry but also try to smile and savor. Life is good, but it is so short. Happy thanksgiving.

Time for an update about this crazy industry and the changes that are happening for us.

Globally we will never be the same. Containers filled with granite and monuments coming from India and China have been sitting in ports for months on end. The cost to ship those containers has gone from $3,000. when they were filled to as much as $18,000. and continue to increase as they sit there idle. It's crazy. So the orders are being cancelled.

For the manufactures to produce these same creations in country for us; the cost at a minimum has DOUBLED. The 3M factory where we get our essential stencil is closing. Without stencil, the work as we know it cannot be done. Someone else will fill that void, but like anything else; they will be able to put whatever price on they want and we will have to pay it.

Fuel prices are obviously too high for all of us and all other necessary supplies and equipment are either on back order OR rising daily as far as cost.

We have held off increasing the pricing to our customers...but not sure how long we can hold out. We can hope for the best and stay hopefully that things will level off and go back to normal... but if this is the new normal then the Spring of 2022 things may have to change.

We take a lot of pride in the work we do. But another month in and the time frames are not improving at all for receiving granite orders... the delays are continuous...and completely out of our hands. The weather has improved for getting cemetery lettering done, but as of right now... anyone calling with lettering needing to be done are now waiting until spring time. That's the only way we will finish the work that has already come in. As always, patience and understanding are appreciated.

It has been a month since we posted about the overwhelming affect this pandemic has had on our industry. It has NOT improved... it's getting worse. Not only is the wait time for granite three times what it used to be, it is now increased in cost by almost 10%.

On top of that, the trade tools that we NEED are not available due to a national shortage in stencil, glue and compound. Sadly there is also a shortage of manpower globally and is creating and unprecedented backlog for our industry.

We here at Mercer still consider ourselves the best of the best and will continue to strive in supporting our customers and fulfilling all their needs and expectations in the most reasonable timeframe that we are able.

Hang on tight people..... this is a scary rocky time in which we are living.

It is time for me to make a post to explain the overwhelming work load this industry world wide is experiencing. Most of the granite/monument delays are due to the backlash of COVID in places like India and China. Containers carrying granite have been sitting in ports for months waiting to get through customs and released to come to the US. What used to be a 4 month time frame is now a 6-9 month time frame to receive these goods.

As far as the local work such as cemetery lettering which has far exceeded any known year in the recent past; our time frames have gone from a 30-45 day wait to a 3-4 month time frame and that's if the weather cooperates. If there is rain and high humidity the stones are wet and cannot be sandblasted. Once the weather turns cold and the stones do not sustain a certain temperature, they cannot be sandblasted. Thus, I am explaining to families on a daily basis why their work has not been done yet. The majority of people are understanding, but some could care less what the explanation is and are not very kind at all.

Please share this information with your friends and families, and know that we are trying our absolute best to fulfill everyone's needs and expectations. This is a process that I am proud to guide people through, but I am overwhelmed with the disheartening phone calls.
